I'm listening to Rush, so I made a thread....the rest is history!
Just to provoke thought: If I lost my job today, do you think I have the absolute rigth to jump off the roof of my office building?
Ok then legally murdered, is that better?
No. End of life wishes to me have to do with someone in a terminally ill situation with no hope of recovery. We should all have living wills that reflect our wishes. God forbid we should ever have living wills to cover suicide. But, the way things are going, I suppose it wouldn't surprise me.
Okay, President Lincoln, I'm with you. Just don't get hateful over hate. Kinda misses the point, you think?
Lot of Christians around here seem to have mislaid thet New Testament.
His whole "euphoric starvation" schtick is getting pretty lame. It presupposes the person who is starving is aware of surroundings.
Rush has disgusted me in many ways over this issue. He falls back to a "Living Will" but makes arguments against exercising a living will. And then brings up Kevorkian and the "culture of death" if any humane means are suggested to speed up the process. All this while telling us we should be outraged that the Supreme Court determined it unconstitutional that children be executed--a reflexive impulse from the his "culture of life" I guess.
This is the guy who's always praising the human spirit and how we yearn for freedom and how all of us should pursue our human potential. But this poor woman must be trapped in a shell to be a symbol for the sanctity of life. Life is so precious that a women who lost 80% of her brain, living on the remaining damaged 20%, should be trapped in that shell as long as the shell can continue to exist, and embracing a religious right that shows less faith in God or the afterlife by their determination to keep this poor woman alive.
That is a gross misunderstanding of orthodox Christian belief.
one small point,please,...I've been across and up and down this fine land of our's,...you should see some of those teenage "children",menacing,...know their rights more than what it takes to do well,...guess you've been indoors
This is a topic I struggle with greatly. Perhaps your statement above will help me think about this more clearly.
I was struck by your use of the term "terminally ill." I think I agree with your statement, but it does raise an interesting point. Even if Mrs. Schiavo had a Living Will, should it apply in this case since she is not terminally ill? I realize that this is a moral question, not a legal one.
Yup. And he wondered why it's OK to criticize and try to affect Congress and the presidency but we're supposed to keep hands off the courts. Excellent points. I don't know how we got to this point. Decades of media / left-wing brainwashing, I guess! But I think we've got to stop thinking about the judicial branch as being any more sacrosanct than the executive and legislative branches.
There are those who hate me, Fine don't know you, don't care. Why did I say enoght Terri. Beacuse it is none of our business! This is a a family's private HELL that no one wants to experience. But we are a nation of opinionated busy bodies and our 24 hr news whores on CNN et al have turned this into a 24 hr a day 3 ring freak show. the Congress cant get together and reform taxes, balance the budget, etc etc, but give them a camera and a case like this they will trample each other to get on TV and show up at midnight to pass a bill. Subpeona a brain damaged woman to testify before congress, can you say GRANDSTANDING? I can. The media is cramming this down our throats to the point that I bet there are lots of folks just like me who hgave had enough!
I could be confused, can you help clarify your opinion?
Not disagreeing with you, but there really is no point in arguing with the 'let nature take its course' folks... they're as much set in their opinions as we are in ours. I guess that goes along with the old C.S. Lewis line, if there wasn't bad in the world, we wouldn't appreciate the good.
I'm not a lawyer but my thought is that this can't happen because she hasn't been charged with a crime, so there is nothing to pardon......I'm sure someone wrote about it on one of the Schiavo threads, but it's hard to wade through everything and find it.
My favorite is the one about how dangerous soccer is, and he speaks with these people who think he is actually taking them seriously. Dang that's funny stuff.
Well true. He is also a businessman with a show to run. ;)
and don't forget F.A.R.T. :-)
I know. Sigh. Sometimes it's just so difficult not to. I find myself holding my head and screaming "Shut Up", "Shut Up". Anyway, you get the point.
ROTFLMAO! We are much alike!
"I listened to this on the way home from dialysis yesterday."
You need dialysis? Sorry. We're going to have to pull the plug on you, you "unproductive feeder." Just Kiddin', but to be on the safe side, stay the heck outta Florida! :)
Just as I continue to remember you, and how you rarely ever miss a chance to divide republicans against themselves.
