"My heart goes out to her parents who have lovingly taken care of her all these years."

Only when Michael allowed them in her room. I remember reading, years ago, that Michael blocked Terri's parents from seeing her.

The husband has not recognized the sanctity of this marriage.

The judge ruled otherwise. Your opinion does not and should not count - we are a republic not a democracy.

We can always go to the Athenian system? Where the assembled citizens vited guilty or not guilty based on their whims on that day and the oratory of the defendent. Pericles got away from a charge by crying and humbling himself before the mob and they let him go after the were satisified the busted his balls enough.

"I only wish Terri's parents would appreciate it."

I have not heard that they didn't. Did they say something that leads you to think that they don't?

Here is a post I worked on for a thread that was pulled while I was drafting it.

It is inappropriate to use civil proceedings to kill people. If Terri were a death row inmate in the State system, Jeb Bush could save her.

If Terri had received a death sentence in the federal system. George W. Bush could have saved her.

If this had been a death penalty case, she would have been entitled to good lawyers (the only situation where you can be pretty sure to get good court appointed lawyers). If she got ineffective assistance of counsel, this would be cause for overturning her conviction. She would have a right to trial by jury.

What in the world do you want? For him not to have a hearing? For him not to read what is submitted to him? For him not to write an order that can form the basis for an appeal?

No, what is clear is that you just want a different ruling. The effort of Whittemore, the 11th, and SCOTUS to receive these filings, some in the middle of the night or before dawn, consider what is presented, and issue rulings with a 24-hour turnaround is extraordinary in the judicial process. Anyone who claims that the courts are dragging their feet simply doesn't understand the process. Oh, and BTW, as important as this case may be to you, the courts actually do have other things going on, some of them with constitutional or statutory deadlines. It is not as if they have this case and only this case to deal with.

"Let's throw out the sancity of marriage while we are at it - we already trampled on state's rights."

Where were state's rights in Roe v Wade?

She would have died when the New Testament was written. The author of Romans would ask - what is that clear tube thing in her stomach? Electricity? What the heck is that? CAT Scan? You perform cures with cats?

Yes, they were berating JEb Bush on not doing enough. FOxnews has their comments. I was horrified at how insensitive they were to all his efforts. I'm beginning to wonder about THEM. Nothing is enough. When they don't get the result they want they berate the person. They are looking for Bush to break the law and just take her. He can't. Just as they are NOT doing that because they CAN'T.

... and he's going to block Terri's parents from burying her. He cannot allow, with the unwavering support of the blind judge, an autopsy to be performed on her.

Furthermore, anyone, including many conservatives, who condones the legal killing of this disabled woman must support immediate creation lest they risk the possiblility of learning how phenomenally wrong they may be in their support of her unnatural death.

Well, you got me going with your post. My mom had given me a very old print of St. Teresa many years ago. I just dug it out and took this for you (the image looks better than the print itself - it's quite old and deteriorating.)

Look at the explosion of senseless violence in America this week: the Columbine-style murders on that Indian reservation in ND, the factory explosion where 15 people died, and in my area (Pittsburgh PA), a man walked into a school with an airgun and was shot dead by police. Sick crazy stuff...evidence that the Culture of Death in our country is alive and kicking. A spinoff of the Schiavo tragedy, IMO.

I agree - Roe v Wade trampled state's rights - which I though we Republicans and or Conservatives were fighting to restore? Or do we get to violate principles now that the left did? i.e. they can do one bad thing so we can do one bad thing? Is that what you advocate?

Wonder if AARP understands that every one of their donors that lives in Florida is now under the rule of this judge's ruling.

I am really saddened to hear that they have done that. I don't get cable so I won't be able to hear what they said.

Terri Schiavo is not a Baby Seal or even and adult Seal, so she has no rights. Doesn't everyone know that dogs and cats have more rights in the United States than human beings?

Except for Judges. They are the new kings and rulers of the United States!

All Hail the Honorable James Whittemanure! All Hail Gravy Greer the Greedy! /sarcasm off

"Is that what you advocate?"

I advocate ending Roe v Wade first. I just can't find that today's GOP is a state's rights party. So what it amounts to is that states rights is a Conservative view but is not the view of Republicans. Republicans have grown Washington just as Democrats have.
