I agree with you. I'm getting very unnerved by the discussion of Jeb being a traitor,etc.etc. when there's only so much he can do. I think people are now very desperate. As I said to another freeper yesterday, I'm not desperate. I refuse to entertain such thoughts because there's nothing that I can do. All the legal options have been exhausted. I hope God takes Terri home. Good essay Mike.

I concur.......it is one thing to be emotional about this issue, especially when sees all hope drained away.....but when I started reading articles about Jeb or G.W. being traitors or having "no balls", then that is where I start to use the word "fanatic", and it resembles the kind of crap liberal activists and "Bush is Hitler" types exude. These men went above and beyond, more than most, and should not be villified..........This is where emotion has now gotten the better of reason and logic......

I agree. I actually think Jeb can do more, as some as Bill Bennet have argued. HOWEVER, I totally understand his unwillingness not to start a civil war in the state of Florida over this. Do I think he should do more? Yes. But do I fully understnad his reasons for not? Yes.

FURTERMORE, attacks on him by people who are getting irrational are getting totally out of line. WITHOUT JEB BUSH TERRI SCHIAVO WOULD HAVE DIED TWO YEARS AGO. JEb Bush has been Terri's #1 public advocate. Jeb has been by her side throughout this. I bet you if Terri Schiavo knew what the governor of Florida had done, she would be very grateful.

I know if I was in a similar situation, I'd be very grateful, but I"m not positive I'd want him to start a civil war in my state over it.

Jeb Bush deserves praised in this, not irrational hatred for refusing to put his state troops against state sheriffs in an effort to save Terri.

It seems nothing else can be done within the law. Exceeding the limits of the law can only further damage the system we're trying to rescue and restore.

And I can't blame and won't blame either Bush for not doing more, because they did SO MUCH, and because there is nothing else they can try that has even the most remote chance of success.

In a game of chess with the devil, this time the good guys lost. Terri is robbed of the life she might have had, and her killers enjoy the protection of the law.

Stay healthy, people. Watch your backs. Pray you never find yourselves at the mercy of the state, or dark forces like Greer, Felos and the HINO.

I have to agree. They've put Jeb in a can't win position. I'm not desperate, either. Just terribly saddened. I'm coming to terms with the fact that so many idiosyncrasies of the case that should have raised red flags and questioned Michael as a guardian years ago were glossed over and the race to kill her (because they aren't denying her 'life support', they are denying basic food and water) was afoot. At this point, I have to agree, the best outcome for Terri and her long-tortured body (I guess my position on the husband is clear) is going home to heaven.

I agree.

Despite what some people on FR would like, this is NOT a monarchy, and expecting Dubya or Jeb to use force and call out the troops is simple vigilantism.

I don't want to see a precedant set for someone like Hillary.

I fully supported the de novo review. It seemed completely Constitutional to me. The courts felt that it did not apply. So be it. All legal avenues seem to be exhausted. We must not support illegal ones.

It is time to let go. We as humans have done all the proper things we can do for Terri. It is now time to step aside and let God take her in his loving hands.

I hope God takes Terri home.

He will, when His work with Terri and our country is done. I believe that Terri's purpose in life and in her manner of death was decided from the very beginning of time, as all our lives have been. I just hope that there is a silent majority out there who are so appalled at what has been happening that come the 2006 elections, we'll see an increase in prolife election winners.

Courage, everyone. God answers all our prayers...but often not in the way we want them answered.

At this point, because Terri is suffering so much, thanks to those who supported "letting her die in peace," I also hope that the Lord takes her mercifully.

Putting the stark fact aside that this is government sanctioned murder, what's next most unnerving to me is the politicization of this case such that for some it is as much about defending certain people in the Republican party as it is about "defending the law."
