If I selectively presented data like the Schindler's video clips do, I'd lose my professional license as a scientist. Her behaviour is consistent with a diagnosis of PVS...including smiles, grimaces, cries, brief object tracking, response to external stimuli, etc. That doesn't mean there's any cognition left.
I suppose you let your emotions take you away and would consider a mass-murderer "cute" if he smiled at you. And heck, "how can you steal the rights from someone who smiles at you?" is a more relevant question.

Monsignor Malanowksi was threatened with arrest if he attemps to give Terri Holy Communion. Monsignor has been visiting Terri every day since her feeding tube was removed on March 18.
