Terri Schiavo, Death be Not Proud
The National Ledger ^ | March 25, 2005 | Frank Salvato

Posted on 03/24/2005 10:04:34 PM PST by Coastal

Terri Schiavo is going to die. Not because she has a terminal disease. Not because she was convicted of a crime punishable by death, although she did received a death sentence. She is not going to die because she has no one who loves her or because no one will care for her. Terri Schiavo is going to die because a judge from Florida’s 6th Circuit Court ordered that she not be fed. Any other contention is false.

There will be those who say that Judge George Greer’s ruling is simply a realization of Terri’s wishes; that she didn’t want to be kept alive by artificial means in the event of something catastrophic. I could respect Judge Greer’s ruling — and Terri’s wishes if in fact that is what she wanted for herself — if there weren’t so much doubt about the ruling’s validity. Reasonable doubt is rampant in this case.

It is clear there are questions as to the legitimacy of Michael Schiavo’s claim that Terri — then his wife, not some burden laying in a hospice standing in the way of his “new life” and $1.2 million in inheritance — expressed a desire not to be kept alive by alternative means. In fact, everyone but for Michael and two people who overheard Terri at a funeral expressing her sympathy for a person whose life had been augmented by the use of a ventilator, emphatically contend that Terri expressed exactly the opposite.

It took 7 years for Terri's husband to "remember" she wanted to die. It appears he's more brain dead than she is. I suggest we starve him - for his own good.

Does anyone know where Michael Schiavo has been these last few days?

Excellent article. I am not sure I have heard about the $1.2 million inheritance before. To be an inheritance it must come from Terri and Terri must have gotten from her parents. If so, for Michael to get it must be doubly hurtful.

from what i understand The $1.2 million is from a malprctice lawsuit. And it was only AFTER it was awarded that micheal "rememberd" that Terri said that she didn't want to be kept alive artificially.
This whole thing stinks

Sadly michael is going to get away with court-orderd murder.

Her husband, Michael, is obviously the most rational person and cares the most.

It took him 7 years to "remember" she wanted to die. Maybe the $2 million dollar settlement nudged his memory a bit, aye? In this case, his "love" sure paid off big, and he got himself a new bedroom babe as a bonus!

BTW, welcome to FR. Why the visit? Are the pro-death sites too boring for you tonight? Maybe you could try killTheUselessEaters.org.

The money they are talking about, came in two parts.

After the "incident" that caused Terri's condition, Michael sued the doctors who treated her, and won $1.2M FOR TERRI'S CARE, based on her life expectence of 40-50 years, because the jury determined based on evidence, that while she was indeed brain damaged, but there was no reason that she wouldn't live out a normal lifespan. Michael of course swore how he will take care of her.

In addition Michael got another $600,000 for himself to compensate him for the loss of wifely companionship.

While all this was going on, Michael had no memory of Terri's "wishes", he suddenly remembered them AFTER he had the money, because with her death, the trust set up for her care would go to him.

Also, Judge Greer allowed Michael to take the money meant for Terri's care, to spend it on lawyers, in his quest to kill her.

Check out the timeline:

And don't forget the life insurance policy he bought from his new girlfriend before the "accident." That baby will also pay off big.

inheritance? I've not seen that before.

My understanding is that almost all of the 1.2 million in malpractice money was used on attorneys, instead of for her care.

I think this Schiavo guy is scum, and I have my beliefs as to his motives, but what "inheritance" would he get?

Michael Sciavo will surely rot in hell as an advocate for the Devil himself. His marriage vows are a sham....he certainly has his own self-interest in seeing her die, otherwise, he would have taken the $1 million dollar offer to divorce her. Just wait, after she does die, he will be in court again, this time filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the same people he was awarded all of that money from in the first case. His lawyers have obviously advised him to that effect.

if he had any decency, he would have divorced her a long time ago, and let her parents take care of her

The only thing in this case that is worth remembering, is that God works in mysterious ways...I find it so ironic that this is all occuring over Easter weekend.

Matthew 21:14 "And now the blind and crippled came to him and he healed them there in the temple."

The reason this was controversial was that the blind and the crippled, at the time, were not allowed to enter the temple. Jesus not only welcomed them in, but healed them. This, all leading up to Palm Sunday.

Thanks. I new about the settlement but had never heard it called an inheritance before. I assume the fact that it is in trust creates that situation.

I have also never been clear on who he sued and why. You say he sued the doctors who cared for her. What did he accuse them of?

Good god, quoting Donne??!? You should do some research into his personal beliefs. He without a doubt would have been in favor of keeping the tube OUT of Terri.

I don't know the details, but I presume he accused the doctors that it was their lack of sufficient care that caused Terri's condition.

I don't think any of us know what the lawsuit was all about. Those facts could shed some light on the subject. I have read that the reason they got the settlement they did was because the evidence presented at that time said she was capable of rehabilitation and should live for approximately 50 years.I still think it would be germane to the case to know what the charges were. That would reflect on the condition she was in when found and brought in, the examination she under went, the treatment she received, etc.

All of you have laid out very upsetting and devastating information which has not been investigated. It would appear that cover-ups have occurred all over the place in this situation..O'Riley, last night, told us how he tried to interview the Sheriff in that county about the complaint filed by the nurse after one of Schiavo's visits. (You know, she thinks he might have injected Terri with insulin in an attempt to kill her). The Sheriff hung up on him. Is that a proper way for law enforcement to respond to a national crisis like this? Is there a "Good 'Ol Boy" network of the ACLU plus the Sheriff in existence here? I was listening to Neil Cavuto (FOX) yesterday and one of his business guests said he had just come from Chicago, through Ohio to the New York stock exchange environment and that no one was thinking of anything but Terri Schiavo. He said the people he encountered were extremely upset and that he thinks foreigners are upset as well and could now take a different view of the U.S. in the light of the judicial tyranny we are seeing. A lot of foreign investment comes in here and they have in their minds that the President and the Congress, elected by the people, are in charge. According to his concerns, they will fear to invest in an environment where these lawyers and judges have the last word over the President and the Congress. The twisted morality of the ACLU and their representative, Schiavo's lawyer, (Filo?? I have an adverse reaction when I see him so I cannot remember his name), and this Judge Greer is being observed and noted all over the world. This drips with the same evil which crucified Christ..The Scribes and the Pharisees, the lawyers and the judges. The 30 pieces of silver are at work here, as well. Michael Schiavo will get those. Terri is symbolic of perhaps the greatest sin in our nation, the holocaust of abortion, which has grown to include the disabled, if she dies (this is not the same as someone who is on heart/ventilator machines without brain waves.) The Godless want it to continue and to grow to include unwanted children. (In Holland, 14 year old children are being euthanized, according to Michael Savage). If the leftist courts were to lose this one, then their abortion gulags would be threatened. Their tyranny might have a crack in it..Those who crucified Christ feared him because he was loved by the innocents who did not have the power of the elites. Yes, I think it is very interesting that this awful event is occurring on Easter weekend. I wonder what God sees regarding the future of the Judas in this situation..I doubt that all this is just going to fade away...
