 ALL five members of a family from hell were kicked out of their home and the surrounding area yesterday after a four-year reign of terror.

Anti-social behaviour orders were issued against the Bridge family — who were banned from entering the Wirral in Merseyside for up to seven years.

John Bridge, 40, his wife Karen, 37, and sons John Jnr, 20, Alan, 18, and Luke, 16, terrorised neighbours in New Brighton, a court heard.

The family had used threatening and violent behaviour, verbal abuse and intimidation.

They also indulged in criminal behaviour — including dangerous driving and organised car crime.

Their thuggery was so bad that Merseyside police created a special unit to target them.

The ASBOs, issued at Birkenhead Magistrates Court, ban John, Karen, John Jnr and Alan from entering the Wirral until September 2012. Luke was banned until March 2009.

The five were also banned from causing harassment, alarm or distress to anyone in England and Wales for the same period.

John Jnr and Alan are both currently in jail for other offences.

Chief Supt Alan Jones said after the ruling: “By standing up against the intimidation of this family, members of the community have helped us reclaim their neighbourhood.”

Caroline Laing, boss of Wirral’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team, added: “Residents were incredibly frightened of reprisals.”

I do too!  That's one reason why I love to read the Sun....they seem to delight in taking every possible opportunity to use British Backwards Slang, Cockney Rhyming Slang and a variety of other slang effects that spice up the articles and, to this Stoat's ears, make for a captivating read.

Agreed...our British friends have a proud and ancient history of excellent slang....numerous British Slang dictionary sites exist on the web, but here's the one at the BBC....this page goes into some detail about Cockney Rhyming Slang, which may be of interest  :-)

Well how marvelous they they have been kicked "out", to no place in particular, where everyone can be confident that they will diligently refrain from doing anything they have been "banned" from doing.

I doubt that anyone is under such a naive illusion that they will instantly become good and productive people.  As I stated in my post #3, they will of course merely start up again somewhere else.  The good thing, however, is that now the entire U.K. is aware of them and will give them a very cool reception wherever they might go.  The Merseyside police will undoubtedly bring the police in their new community up to speed on their nefarious acts, and they will be under a microscope continuously.  Two of the devil-spawn are already in prison, and the rest will likely follow in short order.

I'm glad that this ASBO was made, however, as these idiots will likely not be bright enough to abide by it and will quickly find themselves in violation.  This gives local law enforcement a tool to work with that they didn't have before.

Wow!  Thank you so very much for the update!  My prayers go out to the honest and hardworking Buxton-area residents, as they know have some truly evil neighbors.  Hopefully you don't live in that area.....if you do, you have my sympathies and my best wishes for safety.

Hopefully the bar owner wasn't badly hurt.....an attack with a crowbar can easily kill or cause profound brain damage.

This horrific act by the 'father' not only is a terrible and serious crime unto itself, but is also a clear violation of the ASBO.  Hopefully, he will be put away in a very unfriendly prison for a very, very long time and subjected to all manner of indecencies while there.

Assuming that the 'father' is now out of commission for the foreseeable future, by my count there remain only the 'mother' and one child out in society able to cause trouble, although the Sun story didn't say how long the two devil-spawn currently in prison are likely to stay there.

At times like this I'm sure that the British public wishes that Great Britain still maintained a distant prison colony island that such 'people' could be sent to.  Hopefully this 'family' will eventually be segregated from polite society with no further bloodshed or suffering.

The Sun article didn't address that, so I'm sorry, I don't know.  If any one else is more familiar with this situation, please feel free to answer.

You raise an interesting question, one that has some legal precedent here in the USA.  It's quite common for cars, homes and other personal properties to be seized by the State or Federal government and then resold to the public at auction when that property is used during the commission of a crime....a typical example is of a house that's been turned into a drug den or cars that have been purchased with monies gained from drugs or other illegal activities.  I haven't heard of State property seizures invoked when the offences are similar to those attributed to this 'family'....  perhaps it might fall under RICO laws here in the USA?....if others have better information on this please feel free to answer.

Not being a British Stoat, I don't know if similar seizure laws exist for the Crown.  An interesting question, and hopefully someone with better information will answer.
