For some reason, I'm reminded of the little story C. S. Lewis tells in "Mere Christianity" about an acquaintance who, when told of the announcement of bread rationing during WWII, said (paraphrased), "Oh, that's no problem. We always have toast for breakfast."
You see, these deluded, blinded people are not starving a living woman; they are following the law. It's no problem for them.
