Why Liberals Are So Intent On Killing Terri Schiavo
The National Ledger ^ | March 24, 2005 | Christopher G. Adamo

Posted on 03/24/2005 9:40:35 AM PST by Coastal

At this writing, Terri Schiavo has been denied food and water for five days. Her fate hangs in the balance, having slipped yet further upon the decision of U.S. District Court Judge James Whittemore, a Clinton appointee, who took his time before refusing to order her feeding tube to be replaced so that she might begin to take nourishment and water once again.

Whittemore can pride himself, in keeping with the twisted precepts of the counterculture, not only for assenting to her condemnation, but also for wasting precious time in his premeditated (a word used with full understanding of its implications) charade of deliberation. The result of which was obviously fixed in his mind before any official contact was ever made with his court.

But time is a luxury that Terri does not have. Within only a few days she will start to suffer irreparable damage from the insidiously slow death sentence that was placed upon her by a husband who clearly has an obsession with her eradication as a human being.

The answer to this seems to be that liberals want to kill Terri because they don't want the government interferring in a family matter.

Could that judge vacate his own order and decide to take the case? I mean if we could get his email addy and beg would he have the power to vacate his own order and take the case?

They've sold themselves to the devil over abortion, and now their master won't let them take one step back.

The issue for me is who should be the family? The parents can make a real case that the husband had moved on with his life, lives with a woman, has two kids, and essentially has a common law marriage. They are MINO -- married in name only. Perhaps the parents should be the guardians under those circumstances. That argument has some merit.

Cool. So government should stay out of Muslim families who want to excise their little girls' genitalia with razor blades, polygamists in Utah & Arizona should be left alone, and if a husband wants to beat the beejeezus out of his wife then that is a family matter.

Right?

That's really what this is all about for them, IMO. They just can't allow a victory for life. It's all so sad.

The root of the Liberal angst is the potential for any legal precedent established assigning federal civil rights to a voiceless, subordinate being extended to unborn children facing abortion.

Those sanctimonious Democratic hypocrites will send a SWAT team in to 'rescue' a Cuban boy, in order to return him to Castro, but will stand by while an American woman starves to death.
"A society is judged by how it treats its citizens least able to care for themselves." Demo author escapes me, but helps to show how far they've sunk.

Yes, but her TRUE "family" is begging for government intervention to help save her life. Their argument appears to be a specious one. Just like their argument equating the alleged statement, "I wouldn't want to live like that" to mean "Please kill me by starving me to death in a barbaric fashion."

The hard left supports killing Terri because it does not want to undercut the power of the courts.

The courts are the only way in which they will ever see their agenda implemented to the degree they desire. This case has brought the Judicial Branch into open conflict with the Executive and Legislative Branches. The Judiciary has a lot to lose here. I believe that this is also the reason why the Greer decision continues to stand - if the Circuit Court considers new evidence and overturns that decision, it divides its house against itself. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Liberals know that if the courts are weakened, they can kiss their utopian agendas goodbye.

I dont see why this is turning into a liberal vs. conservatives issue. I have liberal friends who think she should be saved and consevative friends who think she should be allowed to rest in peace. It seems selfish to bring politics into this.

Actually, I hate it when the government interferes in some family matters, like not allowing parents to spank their kids. However, when parents refuse to discipline their kids I usually hate it when the government doesn't step in.

"Henceforth liberals will determine, with the sanction of the modern activist judicial establishment, right from wrong, good from evil, and now as we see, who will live and who will die."

The judges should just let her ex shoot her. It would be more merciful and more honest.
