I wonder why anyone would assume MS has her best interests at heart and the truth on his side.

The central issue here, really. How anyone can look into this affair with any depth and not smell a big rat is utterly astounding to me. I even had a conversation with a very leftish bartender today (and we never agree on anything sustantive although I'll give her credit for her smarts) and she said she couldn't believe how the State of Florida could let MS basically legally murder Terri. And this is in mid-town Toronto. This case is getting far more attention than I think many people realize. Radio stations today had an interview with a gent from just east of Toronto who has a child with severe cereberal palsy. He was mortified by what was happening.

WOW! I always thought Moran was a scumbag and you just confirmed my suspicions. I was so mad at Colmes that I turned it off so not to get more upset.

I think you just hit jackpot. You might want to create a thread just for this.

thank-you for a sorely needed laugh

I know what you mean. This entire matter regarding Terri S. has proved to be very emotive.

Keep the faith.

"Actually, one of the things the speaks volumes is Judge Greer forbidding anyone from trying to feed Terri via conventional means."

"If she truly is unable to swallow, that would be moot."

The people on this board that condone the starvation of this defenseless woman do NOT want to hear that. They put their fingers in their ears and HUM TO THEMSELVES.

may it happen NOW before it is too late.

If I were Jeb, I would act now, before the Supreme Court rules. If he waits, hoping he won't have to act, he'll look positively weird if he then goes in there with the DCF. It'll look like he's flipping off the Supreme Court. If he flips off Greer, so what? Greer is nobody.

If he moves now, he gives the Supremes a huge break by taking the time pressure off of them. He can announce in advance that they're going to do an MRI scan, and the results will be available next week sometime. If I were on the Supreme Court, I think I'd wait for the MRI before joining in the judicial kill-fest. They don't want the entire Judicial Branch on record as voting to kill the woman the doctors just said is conscious and aware. They'll figure some hook to overrule Whittemore before they let that happen.

if you've ever had a root canal or any dental procedure, just think about how dry your lips and mouth get with the retractor inside. Imagine that happening to your entire body coupled with severe hunger. A gentle way to die? Give me a break.

Its getting close to the time for getting out of this country. Ireland, is still quite conservative is some ways.

Is that a good place to go for a conservative? We are pretty happy in South Carolina, all forms of government are Republican, however we might need to look over-seas?

OK you read a lot. still the fact that the courts ruled that way only indicates their writeups will be in that direction.

I'd like to consider a different question: Should Mr. Schavio be investigated for abuse?

There are doctors as early as 1990 who have questioned Teri's injuries as possible abuse (broken neck and ribs). Nurses who have said in affidavits that Mr. Schavio tried to hurt his wife with injections.

You can dismiss all of this as gossip, but gossip or not shouldn't these allegations at least be invesitigated?

Then there is C. Shook a past girlfriend of Mr. Schavio who was forced to testify. She stated that Mr. Schavio stalked her on numerous ocassions and tried to run her off the road once. She states that she is scared of him and is now married and has kids that she wants to protect.

Then there are Teri's girlfriends stating that just a week before Teri's injury she told them she wanted a divorce from Michael--not exactly what I would call "good" relations with his wife.

I think there is a "possibility" that he abused Teri and this should in the very least be looked into and that her body not be immediately cremated as Mr. Schavio had wanteds since 1993 or earlier.

Bottomline: I'm not convinced that Michael Schavio is as innocent as he makes himself out to be.

Fact: Michael Schavio collect $700,000 for malpractice against Teri stating he wants the money for Teri's care. Not long after he receives the money he has denied rehab services for Teri. This part is documented. Then he tells the people that Teri wants to die. Sorry like it or not he sounds like scum to me. Why collect the money and then not use it for what you claimed you were going to use it for?

I remember that with a root canal -- couldn't get any drier. That's why I don't understand anyone that thinks this a natural way to die -- it is horrible.

"15 years of being misdiagnosed? Yeah right ... this reeks of desperation.

"I agree. The right decision has been made many years ago, unfortunately it took until now to be carried out."

A month, or so after the husband won a malpractice award as a result of a trial during which the husband and his team of experts testified Terri was treatable-meaning she was not diagnosed as having PVS- the husband and his new team of "experts" changed their tune. The diagnoses of PVS was post award, within weeks of that award and was announced subsequently to the husband's order that no treatment be given Terri.

The diagnosis of PVS comes from Drs Cranford and Bambakidis. Bambakidis is an "expert" brought in by Greer to break a so called tie in one of the initial trials. Terri's family recorded some of the court ordered exams. They recorded some of Bambakidis's exam. In that exam, Bambakidis, a board certified neurologist and professional expert for hire, asked Terri to follow a balloon he waved around. The video shows Terri's head and eyes moving after the doc gives the command and only after the doc gives the command. Prior to that her expression is idle as if bored. Upon command she perks up and the expression changes to great one of great effort, she moves her head and eyes. There's a clear and unambiguous response. WHen the doc indicates done on audio, Terri goes back to idle.

On audio, after the done command is issued by doc Bambakidis, the doc tells those present in the room during the exam, "see that, she does follow some." Doc Bambakidis, the board certified neurologist, testified at trial to Greer, that Terri showed absolutely no response to any stimuli whatsoever. HE FRIGGIN' FLAT OUT LIED!

The video also shows Terri responding to music in the presence of the worthless quack. The worthless quack was also preset when the Terri stained to utter the word DAD when he heard his voice. I saw the video and audio 2 years ago and read the quack's testimony. That exam was given after about 8 years of no treatment whatsoever and her being in essentially solitary confinement. Her teeth rotted and were pulled.

I don't have to be a doc to tell she's not in PVS. The husband's docs lied. Here's what other docs say:Starving for a Fair Diagnosis

You agree doc, on what basis? Do bean plants follow and respond to commands? Do they respond to music? Do bean plants strain to respond to their father's voice?

"Useless eater" gets the sheep all hot and bothered though. You have to keep it nice and soothing and efficient. There should be butterflys and bumblebees on the walls, and pictures of clouds and green hills. You don't just want to get rid of the useless eaters, eventually you want people who are old to desire to go there...

He can announce in advance that they're going to do an MRI

Two things, need to confirm. (1) Terri has a metal shunt or electrode in her head from previous treatments and (2) unless the metallic object is non-ferrous, wouldn't MRI be dangerous to perform?

".....did not know that Florida has a law permitting euthanasia."

Florida does NOT have a law permitting euthanasia. A poster explained what I put in elementary terms much better than I did in Post #271.

I've tried to get you a link for reference, but can't access it right now.

You are right about the hospices, etc a lot of them are corrupt, money grubbers. I am hoping that the good old boy Lawyer in my county that is very involved with Hospice will get his comeuppance. He had to find other sources of revenue since all the Judges that he had "influence" on are gone, and the new ones let the opposing side speak for a change.

Yes, they would have to go in and take that out. Or perhaps they can get similar results with a PET scan, which does not rely on magnetism.

The question is, if it's a shunt, why is it there? Did she have bleeding in her brain at one time? Oxygen deprivation from a heart attack isn't going to cause that. Trauma would cause that.
