''A great political issue''
Washington Post ^ | 2/22/05 | Richard Cohen

Posted on 03/23/2005 3:17:40 PM PST by LauraJean

Sen. Bill Frist watched a videotape last week of Terri Schiavo made by her parents in 2001. He did this in his capacity as Senate majority leader and as a renowned physician. In both roles he performed miserably. As a senator, he showed himself to be an unscrupulous opportunist. As a physician, he was guilty of practicing medicine without a brain.

Well, Cohen IS an expert on functioning without a brain. He's been doing it for years.

Um, re: "great political issue", the "memo" in question looks more like a (D) dirty trick, see Powerline.

You take that ball and run with it though, Richard Cohen. That's a good boy. Who cares if it's true.

Cohen should just starve himself to death and do the world a favor.

I'll say. He also functions without the facts. Congress' bill authorized the Federal court to insure that Shiavo was given a fair hearing by the State court. If you look at Amendment 14 it is the responsibility of Congress to make sure the state courts uphold the rights of citizens in all State court actions.

No one did any diagnosis of her condition. I wonder why Cohen left that part out.

Well... it is a political issue now and just to give you an idea of how this is going to affect our country's foreign policy in the years to come. It ain't pretty.

The World's Superpower and Champion of Human Rights around the globe is starving and dehydrating a disabled woman to death and underage children who bring her water are being handcuffed and arrested.

Does that sum it up? Did I miss anything?

If Indonesia or Thailand want to have 6 year olds work in factories - that is their business - butt out - at least they don't starve and dehydrate their disabled citizens to death.

If China decides to put a bullet in the brain of all their retarded school children tomorrow, what can we say or do?

Next time we want to whine because Libya or Egypt is on the United Nations human rights council we better learn to bite our lip.

There is your perspective from over here. Im gonna try getting more on the local perspective today and try updating later in the day if I can.

In an earlier era, his same attitude might have been used against him:

Yeah, but there seems to be little interest here. I almost scared that it won't get any attention at all if it can't even gather up more than 50 posts in a thread here.

These guys assume that everyone is as cynical as they are.

But thats fine. If you could prove that Frist was a soulless automaton, I wouldn't care, I want congressmen that act on the things I care about. I don't care what they say among themselves, I care what they do.

If the Dems can't even pretend to respect my views, they shouldn't complain if their opponents can.

That sums it up. You didn't miss a thing.

The president and political party that was capable of sending the Rangers into Kandahar had better be willing to send the marshals into that hospital room, or we will be revealed as the greatest of hypocrites.

The fact that the party that opposed action against Saddam, opposed war in Afghanistan, is also the party that wants to kill this woman may be lost on foreign observers.

Well, I wasn't just fertilized, but Cohen is wrong. Terri is a far better person than me!

How do we know that Richard Cohen is still alive?

Why don't we bury him and find out.

Mr. Cohen is a KAPO. Several years ago he criticized Al Damamto for grandstanding in his efforts for Holocaust reparations just to get Jewish votes. Howevere KAPO scum like Cohen never used their culumn to accomplish what Damamto did. If JINOs like Cohen don't they shouldn't criticize.
