DCF Considers Removing Schiavo from Hospice by Force
Palm Beach Post ^ | 3.23.05 | Dara Kam

State officials say they are considering removing Terri Schiavo from hospice, by force if necessary, despite numerous court orders upholding the removal of the artificial nutrition tube that has kept her alive for 15 years.

Lucy Hadl, secretary of the Department of Children and Families, said Wednesday morning that her staff is relying on a state law that gives the department the authority to intervene on behalf of a vulnerable adult who is 'suffering from abuse or neglect that presents a risk of death or serious physical injury.'

Hadl said that the DCF would have to file a petition in order to remove Schiavo, but that 'it doesn't mean we'd have to have judicial approval in advance of taking the action if we believed it met the threshold for doing it.'

Hadl said that seven years of court rulings backing Schiavo's husband Michael, in his contention that Terri Schiavo did not wish to be kept alive artificially would not stop the DCF from taking action.

'We're not compelled to look at prior judicial proceedings,' Hadl said.

What we are compelled to look at is the presenting circumstances and any allegiations of abuse and neglect that we have recieved. So we have to deal with those and fufill out statutory responsibility.'

The three branches of government are EQUAL. The Judiciary DOES NOT SUPERCEDE THE OTHERS. I have no doubt that the Florida Supreme Kangeroo Court would back the Swamp Judge....but there have been laws broken, flagrantly in "soliciting false testimony" by Michael Schaivo that TERRI WANTED TO BE STARVED TO DEATH.

" Jeb Bush will not have this woman's blood on his hands."

I pray you are right. After his press conference at 3pm, I wanted to hug him; tried calling his office, mail box full. Please, please. But when, when?

I heard on the news that the town was picking up most of it, with the hospice paying for some.

If Governors and Presidents disregard the law to an extent that bothers the legislature, they can be impeached. That is the balance.

Yes. 99% of government employees are Executive Branch.

I don't know what happens at that point. If the executive branch, and presumably the legislative branch, are free to ignore court rulings, then the Rule of Law has been greatly weakened.

I don't either Dog Gone.....but then, what you're saying, conversely, the JUDICIAL BRANCH is free to IGNORE the legislative and executive branch.

"Wonder if Greer has received any, er...campaign contributions from Schiavo?"

Not sure about Schiavo's, but Greer did receive campaign contribution from Felos in May of 2004 for $250.

The Schiavo case sets precedence at many levels and essentially neuters the executive branch.

And that's why the executive branch has got to grow a set of BIG BALLS NOW!

Jeb Bush has EARNED my respect no matter the outcome.

Mine too. It's amazing how many people seem to want him to switch places with her ....and if he did.....they would still hate him.

Have faith.. Don't let the DUms goad you into something they can use against FR. Terri has already exposed many of the corruptions of the EVIL ones. More than all the law enforcement and moral leaders in the Country. Vengence is reserved for the Good Lord. he will prevail. There are many good ppl working hard.

My own mother died at her home but was helped greatly by hospice workers. They were fine compassionate people who help terminally ill people pass this life as pain-free and comfortable as possible.

I can only imagine the pain and horror the rest of these families at that hospice are going through as their loved ones lay dying in the circus like atmosphere there.

Probably wondering if crazed fanatics are going to invade the place at any moment, its real sad.

I won't print what I'm wondering. It might get me sued.

They are a Florida state government agency. On the state level they would be considered a part of the "executive branch."

However, they do not serve at the behest of the Governor.

Let the courts enforce it -- no police to do so.

"Jesus died on the cross to save our lives. Maybe from the agony and suffering of one woman will bring changes and save many more lives. God has a reason and a plan for everyones life. But I will continue to pray for a miracle."

Tamamtoa, I sure hope that those on the side of Terri's starvation will experience an enlightenment somewhere along this terribly inhumane and absolutely sickening, dark, ugly road. My hope and yours, and MANY who see the gross inhumanity done to a fellow, innocent, defenseless human being, at man's hands, is that their hearts will be affected. My hopes and prayers are that the people in favor of her starvation see the absolute idiocy and COLDNESS of pointing to technicalities, a crocked judge's orders (who has ignored subpeonas,) a PVS label of a doctor who spent all of thirty minutes with Terri, and a "husband" who said "When is that B*TCH gonna die?"

FIRST do no harm. FIRST investigate the "husband," the crocked judge, and Felos.

Michael forbade Terri a room with LIGHT and basic, needed THERAPY.

Jeb Bush now sites a Mayo Clinic Neurologist who has said that Terri may have been MISDIAGNOSED, and that she may quite possibly be in a state of semi-conciousness, NOT PVS.

THIS IS A MAYO CLINIC NEUROLOGIST.

The Schindlers failed to make a contribution to Greer, so that about tells the story.
