Iranian journalist Amir Taheri is a member of Benador Associates. He concludes "This is a new configuration in which Islamist terrorism, although still deadly dangerous, has only a limited future."

* The movement is also finding it increasingly difficult to attract new recruits, especially within the Muslim world. Even in Western Europe (where Muslim communities still represent fertile recruiting ground), the number of "volunteers" peaked in the fall of 2003 and has been falling since. That's because we're killing them faster than they can move them in. Also, even the dumbest terror recruit is beginning to notice that their suicide bombings are accomplishing nothing.

What somehow never gets mentioned is that the biggest reason that Al Qaeda's capability has been so greatly diminished is that we've taken out two of their biggest former government sponsors, the Taliban and Saddam Hussein. And make no mistake about it, many of their other major sponsors have gotten the message loud and clear about what could potentially happen to them. Our current brain trust knew exactly what it was doing, despite the heaps of disinformation that have been doled out to the general public over the last couple of years.

Closing the madrassahs is extremely important. I hadn't heard that so many of them had been closed. There's still a long ways further to go, however. Schooling of Muslim children in extremist Wahhabist teachings prepars the way for millions of future terrorists, something that simply cannot be permitted.
It's mostly Saudi money that has opened and funded these terrorist schools. Something still needs to be done about that, because they are continuing to work on opening more of them around the world.

"In Pakistan, more than 13,000 schools suspected of propagating extremist ideas have been shut in the past two years. In Yemen, the number of such schools to be shut is around 24,000."
So, all that's needed to finish up are 37,000 hangings of the head mullahs.
"One big problem is that the number of places where Islamists can hide in safety is dwindling."
One big problem -- for them. ;')

Bad news for the Democratic Party. When the world's coming up sunshine and roses - what are liberals to do? Indeed.

Well well. What happened to those Gore and Deaniac screams,
"It's all Bush's fault!?"
What happened to "
Bush keeps lying, boys keep dying?"
I guess
reality is a bitch.

RADS ON THE ROCKS: Stevenson, Kennedy, Johnson, Humphrey, McGovern, Carter, Mondale,
Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, Kerry? When will they learn to stop digging? Is there no end in sight?
If Democrats can't admit they've made mistakes, how can they learn from them?

Ditto. I missed this story. Now the question is will Pakistan and Yemen replace these schools with schools that teach something other than hate? I can't say about Yeman but the reason these schools got started in Pakistan and flourished there was the government spent nothing on schooling.

Silly goose! Don't you know Democrats don't make mistakes? You don't have to take my word for it, just ask them.

This is all coming down according to the original Neo-con plan.
Worldwide terrorism really WAS state sponsored, despite the baloney pedaled by the MSM about its grassroots origins Palestine, aggressive American policies, etc.
By changing the political balance in the Middle East, all the players have had to fall into line. Governments have come to see A.Q. and extremism as a liability. They pulled the plug on all the behind the scene's support they were providing and Viola'!!! The swamp is suddenly draining faster than anyone ever imagined.
When, oh when, will the MSM notice that the world is changing faster, and becoming a safer freer place under GW's steadfast, unflinching, uncompromising leadership?
