Domestic Hypocrisy: Martha Stewarts Apprentice Lie March 16, 2005 By Debbie Schlussel
Amidst the Second Coming of Martha Stewart, the Domestic Diva told another big lie.
But not a single member of the pandering media has taken note.
Remember the empathetic Marthas exhortations from prison about poor treatment of convicts when theyre released from prison? Stewart decried the lack of employment for convicts. No-one will hire them, she complained.
No-one, including Martha.
Even before she was released from Camp Cupcake in Alderson, West Virginia, Stewarts production partner, reality TV king Mark Burnett, was holding auditions for Marthas version of The Apprentice.
A look at the lengthy application on NBCs website makes it clear: No ex-cons need apply.

Wouldn't this be the policy of Mark Burnett's production company, of which Martha Stewart is an employee?
I'm not sure how it has all been worked out, but this is one possibility.
I doubt she's an "employee." Probably an independent contractor. But either way, that makes no difference. I think Burnett can smell the money, and she knows it. She could have made allowing ex-cons to try out a condition of doing the show. She didn't b/c she doesn't care about them. She's a phony--a limousine lib, like Schlussel said, IMHO.
The pedestrian folks who are failures...those who don't have the brains our drive to make a success out of their pathetic lives want her to be destroyed!
A pox on them.
Stewart is an inspiration as the comeback kid.
I think sometimes, people expect too much from entertainers. Their whole lives are about appearing differently than they really are.
Another opportunity for the underachieving, class-envious Martha-haters to pile on!
Have fun!
It would make sense that the production company handled the details of this show, and Burnett pitched it to her. If he hadn't gotten Martha, he would have gotten someone else or would have stayed with Trump.
I highly doubt she has that much control over the show. Remember, she was still in prison when this deal was made, and she had no idea the popularity or come-back status she would have when she got out. So at that point she was just lucky to have a gig.
That's my take on it anyway.
Martha is as greedy, avaricious, back-stabbing and hypocritical as most of her ilk.
She lied to the feds, knowing FULL WELL that they were investigating felonies and federal crimes. She lied IN SPITE of advice from all her lawyers to TELL THE TRUTH. Out of her pure, reknowned arrogance she refused to tell the truth. She got 5 months at Camp Cupcake. Now she has to spend 5 more months under "house arrest" in one of her five compounds. Boo-hoo for Martha. She got what she deserved, no more, no less.
I LOVE her shows (Always have; always will.) but I know, FULL WELL, where she is coming from. Lol. Sybill Sheperd was on one of the talk shows and was asked to "do Martha." She IMMEDIATELY got into the raging, profane, screaming mode, degrading her minions and such. All laughed and Shepard remarked that it was "easy" to do Martha. However, some of the American women's support of her is pathetic. If SHE is a role model, we are all in trouble.
Inspiration for a comeback?! She was NEVER "down" or "out." Lol. Inspiration for what? How to be just as greedy, back-stabbing, lying, manipulative and hypocritical as the MEN said women LOVE to bash?
THAT is one for "Most Ridiculous Iten of the Day."
I agree. My Gosh...if she weren't Martha she would have never gone to jail in first place. Now, she's even a bigger star and sympathetic character than she was before. It's pretty funny.
Good observation.
I don't classify Martha as an entertainer. She's turned out to produce a very entertaining show, but she herself? Somehow, I don't see that.
She really is what she appears to be. She has never pretended to be anything else. She never did hide her temper. She just always worked past it to achieve her goals: wealth.
She's a talented woman, driven to succeed and make a ton of money. She'll be a part of T.V. and marketing for years to come. She's only in her early 60's -- she has YEARS and YEARS of happy homemaking to do. She will be the Jack LaLanne of homemaking.
I think so too.
Therein lies her entertainment value. :o)
I figure anyone on tv, especially with a show named after herself, is pretty much an entertainer. She could run her company without being on tv, but I don't know her personally, so she may really be that way.
Another good point.
I have never been in direct contact with her. You obviously have to develope such hatred and personal dislike.
And.... if you don't know her personally or have something other than tv viewing and magazine perspectives, then your view of her charater sounds like the old case of pedestrian sour grapes and envy.
Nonetheless, Have a great day.

Lol. Shows you how LITTLE you have read about her, or HOW LITTLE you have seen of her. She has been on UPTEEN shows, has given upteen interviews, has had many, many columns and stories written about her by people who do it for a living.
The point I made was that she has never, EVER hidden her temper, nor has she ever pretended to be Miss Goodie Two-Shoes. She was a stockbroker, for cryin' out loud and it doesn't get more cutthroat than that. But, you wouldn't know that about her either. You seem to write from TOTAL ignorance about her. She has ALWAYS been infamous for her, um, raison d'etre -- that is, making money any way she can, by whatever means she could. That was her trademark. But you wouldn't know THAT either. You would if you had been following her career and shows like so many of us have.
But, then, again you didn't read the posts about how I LOVED her shows. I also have seen her shows for years. But, lol, why would you care? You've made up your mind about me. Sour grapes? Wrong yet again. YOU sure know how to show off YOUR ignorance and prejudices.
Nonetheless, Have a great day.
Right back atcha with the "have a great day." :o):o) You forgot the smiley faces last time. Next time, be sure to add a "tralala" or two. GeezLaweez.
