Outsourcing is not the problem in the manufacturing/service industries today.
Unions are.

I can't help wondering why Diamond capitulated. It's like going backwards. What's in it for them other than another confrontation 5 years down the road. Or sooner.

"I think it was worth it in that we did accomplish something," said the union. Yeah, right. Especially since: The company has also filled most of their old positions, or replaced them with automated processes.

Who has been paying union dues all these years to keep the union bosses fat? How has the union met it's financial obligations to the neocommunists and democrats? What role have illegal Mexicans criminal aliens played in this wonderful union victory?

please note that the union bosses all got a paycheck during the last 13 years....what motivation did they have to settle?
To: TXBSAFH
Only a striking Democrat union member could be THIS stupid....and FEEL GOOD...
It's going to be fun, watching our Kalifornicate Teacher's Union spend their Union Dues, fighting the Governator...
Hope this leads to outlawing unions for "civil servants"...

"However, most of the workers have now found jobs elsewhere, and the union admits they are unlikely to return."
Well, DUH!! How many people do you know who would sit on a picket line for 13 years???!!!

"I think it was worth it in that we did accomplish something," said the union. 14 years without a job, and in the mean time most of the jobs have been replaced by automation equipment.. but hey they accomplished something... who the hell would pay these jokers dues?
To: TXBSAFH
Well, that should make the union heads start dancing the Macadamia.

Teamsters Local 601 union went on strike at the Diamond of California plant in September 1991 in a dispute over pay I remember that.
Labor leaders claimed employees were working for peanuts.
