A Cheney candidacy in 2008?
Washington Times ^ | Tuesday, March 22, 2005 | By Tod Lindberg

President Bush famously rewards loyalty and competent service. There is one more promotion logical for him to make in his second term: engineering the 2008 GOP presidential nomination for Dick Cheney. Such a move is not, of course, within the president's plenary authority. Others will surely want the nomination. Republican-primary voters will have to be heard from. But as the 2004 election demonstrated to the surprise of many, Mr. Bush is something close to a beloved figure among Republicans nationally. That's true at the grassroots level, and it's true among the party's biggest donors. They all regard Mr. Bush as having persisted against huge adversity in a sober but bold fashion to the benefit not only of his personal political stature but also of the party. If Mr. Bush decides that he would like Mr. Cheney to succeed him, the momentum created would be huge and instantaneous.

Cheney could actually debate hillary and win. She is such a light weight phony, and he is well just Big Time enough to take her.

We may need Cheney. But it's not going to do much good if he's going to keel over dead from the constant bitter stress and travel. His wife and (lesbian ((sorry, had to gratuitously throw that in)) daughter probably feel the same. Condi may be the only one I would trust to run the government.

My God, can you imagine the apoplexy on the left if he became the nominee? We might win just based on the number of leftists who's heads would explode.

He's repeatedly said it and so has Lynn.

He's denied it almost as much as Dr. Rice has.

Let you in on a little secret... the VP doesn't actually DO anything. CR as SS is out there traveling the world, getting her picture taken, having her words hung on, as much or sometimes even more than the President. She's right where she needs to be. Historically, VP is one of the weakest positions to be elected from, along with Senator. It's only been done once (41) in about 175 years.

They don't like the Hildabeast's step to the center. They want the nasty communist Hellary, all the time.

**As much as I love Cheney and think he and Rummy run the country, if he doesn't save Terri, I'm going to question him. Where's his Montana bravery? **

In one paragraph you slam President Bush by saying Cheney and Rummy run the country...then get the state wrong. Cheney's home state is Wyoming.

Why the rude statement?

Also, what can Cheney do about it? Another person that doesn't understand that the VP has no power other than to break ties in the Senate?

Exactly. I think some folks are posting/acting out of desperation, not considering the limits on those in authority.
