The Republicans in Congress acted too late, and W. Bush got on this issue too late.
Our only faint hopes are the Florida legislature and
Jeb Bush.

Note today's
announcement that adult stem cells
can become any type of cell desired
and avoid the rejection problems of embryonic stem cells. Once again, GWB called it right on the side of life.

But it is also true that extreme examples have a way of laying out cultural markers that help define our society. On stem cell research, cutting off federal funding of abortion clinics overseas, bringing faith-based groups into public policy and judicial nominations, President Bush has been nudging American society toward a culture of life. Now, by flying back to Washington and signing legislation well into the night, Mr. Bush is laying out a cultural marker. The president of the United States is saying, We're for life. That's not political pandering. It's the rise of a cultural movement. Tell that to those looking for a scapegoat because the President isn't King and cannot act like it. I respect him, and those that have passed legislation at perceived political cost because they cherish life. That respect is not returned to those that argue it is political grandstanding or claim a president acting as a vigilante will help Terri.

I sure wish there was a way for President Bush to step in and avoid the murder of Terri Schiavo. What is going on here is shameful. This woman is being starved to death on the word of husband who has taken a common law wife and is deeply compromised because of this fact...... What would Michael Schiavo do if his wife was to recover from her brain injuries?
Michael Schiavo is clearly compromised and his testimony had no business ever being considered, yet it his his testimony that has brought about the situation Terri is in today. May God have mercy on his soul....
