We don't kill dogs or cats like this. They get a shot.

We treat them better than Terry is being treated, depriving her of water and food.

This is absolutely barbaric and I'm disgusted to be a citizen of a country that does this to people.

I agree with you. The libs would be outraged if someone was arrested for bringing water to cop killer Wesley Cook.

Mrs. Don-o Here

I know this brave, gutsy lady Lana Jacobs. She is indeed a grandmother, also the mother of two disabled daughters. She and her husband and kids are from the St. Francis Catholic Worker house in Columbia, MO, a place where they try to LIVE what Jesus said in Matthew 25: you know, you encounter the person who is hungry, thirst, naked, sick, in prison, and you do--- what? And then Jesus says, "Whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren, you do unto Me."

Freepers, send her a bit of support (she'll have legal expenses):

Lana Jacobs
St. Francis Catholic Worker
901 Rangeline Street
Columbia, MO 65201

As for the "illegality" of her action, I dispute the idea that it is illegal. Every state makes provision for what is called a "necessity" defense, based on the fact that you were doing something urgent to save somebody's life (or even to save a valuable piece of property, or a pet, by the way!)

For instance: say there's a burning house on property that's posted "No Trespassing." You see a person at a 2nd floor window. You grab a neighbor's ladder, run onto the property, climb up, break a window, grab the person, save their life.

You would not be arrested --- let alone prosecuted --- let alone convicted, for (1) "theft" of the ladder (2) "trespassing" (3) "breaking and entering" --- because you could show that your purpose was to rescue someone in danger of death.

You echo my sentiment that if we condone this, the same dark cloud comes over America that was over the evil empires of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

It's truly despicable. It is shameful. It is a disgrace.

How have we come to this? Tolerance? The mental gymnastics of moral relativism? Selfishness? Pure evil?

....while its President, the most powerful man in the world and a staunch Christian,...stands in the shadows and watches Terry Schiavo die from intentional starvation!

A legal system used to facilitate this murder MUST be dismantled by moral people.
