If this is so painless, why not have the folks on deathrow die in this manner? It is a great cost-cutting measure. And the person can just drift off peacefully.

They'll put her on a morphine or fentanyl drip when the symptoms get severe...she'll sleep her way out of existence via anoxia/hypercarbia due to the suppressed respiratory drive.!
Happens in hospitals every day. So few people actually get to utter memorable death-bed "last words" now a days!

#8 It may be in part true, for elderly and severely ill patients who are in fact terminal. I hear that patients will normally reject food and water in their last week or so.
But Terri is neither ill nor terminal, and her level of cognizion is in disupute. It probably isn't painless and peaceful for her. Just what you wanted to hear, I know...
