Terri's Former Nurse Accuses Michael Schiavo From April 1995 to August 1996, Carla Sauer Iyer was one of Terri Schiavo's caretakers at Palm Garden in Largo, Fla.
This morning on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" program, she gave a frightening account of Michael Schiavo's actions and words, and also a hopeful description of Terri Schiavo's condition at that time. Ms. Iyer said that Terri could: Interact with staff. Laugh. Talk - saying words like "mommy," "help me" and "hi." Let you know if she was in pain. React reflexively on command. Interviewer Steve Doocey asked Carla why, in her opinion, Michael Schiavo was not telling people this. She answered that she believes "he wants her to die." Doocey then revealed that Carla was fired from the care facility because of a disagreement with Michael Schiavo in an incident where she claims he injected Terri with insulin. Ms. Iyer said that after Michael visited Terri one day for about 20 minutes, with the door shut, she went in after he left and saw Terri sweating, lethargic and "crying hysterically." Carla checked Terri's blood sugar, and it was barely reading on the glucometer. She also saw a vial of "insulin concealed in the trash bin." According to Carla, there were needle marks underneath Terri's breast, under her arms and near her groin. Carla talked to the police and then went to the director of nursing, who was very upset that Carla had gone to the police. She doesn't think Michael Schiavo was a caring husband and claimed to Fox News that he refused to send Terri to rehabilitation of any kind. Doocey then said that he had heard a story from another nurse who tried to feed Terri, and when Michael Schiavo found out about it, in Doocey's words, "it all hit the fan." Carla concurred, saying that Terri could be fed by mouth - jello and pudding, etc. - without aspirating, but that when Michael found out Terri was being fed by mouth, he told the nurses he was going to get them fired. Doocey then asked Carla why she was coming forward now. She answered that she wanted "to let the truth be known. I was one of the very few people who was able to see Terri. She would interact with all the visitors. ... I want everyone to see Terri."

At the risk of repeating what I'm certain has been posted/replied here a thousand times, this case would be the bellweather Euthanasia case. Schiavo's lawyer, Felos I believe, and the rest of the Euthanasia crowd can't wait for Terri to die to use this case ad nauseum in the future. I personally believe this will energize the Euthanasia support base to such an extent that the US will rapidly approach where the Netherlands already is vis-a-vis Euthanasia within 5 years.
A local radio station cited a poll this morning. I believe it was the USA Today poll asking ~900 people the question: If Terri was your daughter would you want her to live or to die? I'm pretty sure the poll went 60% in favor of dying.
Its only a matter of time before Planned Parenthood rolls out a program to legally profit from Euthanasia. You can be certain they've already had plnning meetings about it. Could this be why Gloria Feldt left so abruptly? Perhaps her mom or dad is elderly and infirm.
The culture of death pervades through every chink and keyhole. Pray like your life depends on it, because if Terri dies at our hands, it will.
Please God, save us from ourselves. Your will be done.

Done.
here's one he/she/it sent to me:
""so let Terri be murdered..." I said nothing of the kind, so don't go putting words in my mouth you piece of shit loser."
As a professional writer, myself, I find it amusing that some have such a limited vocabulary.
No - ypu questioned my integrity - I am not a news source - I question this story - I neither deny it is the truth nor do I knee jerk accept it because it makes me feel good.
Nope. This (Shiavo) case stands for something else, for when the court is dysfunctional.

Woman in a PVS, eventually terminated via removal of feeding tube.
Right. Electoral politics.
I don't know if this has been posted since I just returned from a dr. appt. but just in case, here it is. It is an e-mail from Cheryl Ford as of 2:00 pm:
I HAVE JUST FINISHED A CONVERSATION WITH A NURSE NAMED NORA. NORA IS A NURSE WHO HAS WORKED WITH TERRI AT HOSPICE. NORA AND I SPOKE FOR A LONG TIME. SHE IS A NURSE WHO HAS COME FORWARD FROM WOODSIDE HOSPICE AND HAS TOLD ME SHE IS APPALLED THAT THEY ARE DOING THIS TO TERRI. SHE TOLD ME TERRI LAUGHS WHEN SHE HAS TOLD HER JOKES.
YESTERDAY, NORA WAS TOLD BY THE AGENCY SHE WORKS FOR, THAT WOODSIDE HOSPICE DID NOT WANT HER BACK WORKING AT THE FACILITY. NORA HAS BEEN WORKING THERE FOR TWO YEARS AS AN AGENCY NURSE. NORA HAD DISAGREED WITH THE STAFF ON SUNDAY WITH REGARD TO WHAT THEY WERE DOING TO TERRI. YESTERDAY, AT 3:30 PM SHE RECEIVED A CALL FROM HER AGENCY SAYING WOODSIDE HOSPICE DID NOT WANT HER BACK.
NORA WILL BE ON HANNITY ON RADIO TODAY AT 2:00PM ET AND ON HANNITY TONIGHT AT 9:00PM ET WITH HER STORY.
I COMMEND THE NURSES IN MY PROFESSION FOR COMING FORWARD LIKE NORA JUST DID.
PLEASE WATCH YOUR EMAILS AND THE NEWS FOR FURTHER UPDATES.

I have seen all the evidence in this case on Terri's Web site. All the evidence (not emotions) but sound hard evidence points to foul play and cover-up. I am a Registered Nurse and I trust Terri's nurse who spoke out in her behalf. I ask you, why, for the last 10 years, after receiving almost $3,000,000 in a medical mal-practice suit on Terri's behalf for her rehab did he deny her this? What are his motives? He has paid hundreds of thousands of $$$ to his pro-death attorney to get rid of her out of her rehab money. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I base mine on the facts presented.
http://www.terrisfight.org. Do the research, you'll find lots of solid evidence that the Judge wouldn't even look at!
How convenient. Apparently he, too, has no living cerebral cortex, and thus didn't have the intellect to take away the evidence.
It seems to me that between this absurd account and the forged affidavit, the right-to-lifers are being Rather punk'd.
I was just pointing out that Schiavo is not the original euthanasia case.
With regard to Terri, there are at least two problems with the conditions legally required to stop feeding her. If either one of these conditions is not met, then Greer's ultimate ruling is in error.
First, the law must find that Terri would stop eating of her own choice, if she could make that choice. Greer's court relied on testimony of three Schiavo's to reach this conclusion (Michael, his brother and his brother's wife. There was conflicting testimony). Second, that she is in fact in a PVS. Experts testified as to this, and the evidence is not unequivocal.
Yes, that Iyer has her thoughts and opinions written and notarized is more than we have from Terri.
If the court ordered one last round of in depth all out examinations to determone if she was in a PVS then I am guessing the story would die down. There woul dstill be the reactionary crowd but the moral majority would be satisfied.
No one I asked ever answers me back on this point though - if Terri is found to be ina PVS after all these new tests - would they advocate pulling the feeding tube?
Oh, one more point. I think it is wrong to stop feeding people, unless they have expressed specifically that they would rather starve to death.
I live in a northern climate, and my Living Will says that I am to be taken outside and frozen to death. Beats starving, just on the time factor. (just kidding, but you get my drift. Food and shelter are basic necessities. But seriously, if I had to choose? If I was in a warm place but had no food? I'd rather die by freezing.)
I think it was a feed. You could see her when she spoke.
The object is to abide by the patient's wishes. Based on what I have heard about the evidence, I am not convinced by the standard of "preponderance," let alone "clear and convincing," that Terri would choose starvation for herself. In fact, if anything, the prepondeance of evidence points the other way, that she would NOT starve herself to death.
Its been removed, what was it?
She is repeating what she testified to in a deposition.
