Look, I am 100% opposed to starving Mrs. Schiavo to death. I think it's barbaric. I also think there are MANY good, solid arguments that can be made in defense of my position. However, I think that there is also a lot of disinformation out there which tend to discredit those of us who staunchly oppose this barbarism. Hannity and others putting forth this guy as some sort of expert is one example.
I've seen no such overwhelming consenous. I believe the judge ignored him and one other who reported that she could make progress. Three others disagreeded with them. This makes him a quack? As for being an "expert" doesn't he work with people in her condition for a living? Does this make him a novice? There have been numerous reports of progress by Terri Schivo, other than this guys opinion, from nurses and staff at her numerous nursing homes. Are they quacks, as they clearly disagree with the other 3 doctors? They work day in and day out with severely disabled people. Are they also novices?
When I saw this Dr. on Hannity and on Scarborough last night, I didn't get the impression he is a quack---
at least he didn't claim he could get Terri up and walk, like John Edwards and John Kerry said they would if elected!
Besides, the nurse that was on Fox News this morning, pretty much echoed Terri's abilities the same way the Dr. did---so I think that is corroboration--
She was learning to walk not long after the incident that made her this way..and she was eating and swallowing just fine until about 7 years ago when they put the feeding tube in to save the staff time in feeding her.
I just watched Jay Wolfson on Fox news with David Asman I believe and he gave a good report on the doctor. He sounded like he was trying to justify his findings more than simply stating them.
