Terri Brother ..................Terri early on in a hospice .................. Michael has let his wife deteriate!
Compare the early Hospice Photo
At this time Terri was able to chew and swallow and was learning to use the pararall bars to walk again...as soon as the malpactice law suit was won Michael Schiavo remember his wife wanted to die...so he would move her from one location to another every time they thought she was ready to start rehab again!
Lets try to have the same page to fight the MISLEADING OUT THERE!
Why did her husband keep her from the rehab??

Terri Schiavo Update
An alert reader brings to our attention some interesting information available at Terri's Fight. It is a timeline, with the important part being the first three years:
Feb 1990 - Terri Collapses in her home. May 1990 (3 months since collapse) - Terri discharged from Humana Hospital in St. Petersberg, Florida.
Dec 1990 - Terri taken to California for experimental implant.
Jan 1991 - Terri moved to Bradenton Mediplex Rehabilitation Center.
Feb 1991 - Terri moved to home with husband.
Apr 1991 - Terri's condition is assessed as improving.
Apr 1991 - Terri's husband advised to move her to Gainesville Rehabilitation Center to receive advanced therapy to continue Terri's recovery.
Jul 1991 - Terri moved to Sable Palms Nursing Home.
Aug 1992 - Terri awarded $250,000 in malpractice settlement.
Nov 1992 - Terri awarded $1.4 million in malpractice trial.
Nov 1992 - Michael Schiavo awarded $600,000 in malpractice trial.
Feb 1993 - Michael Schiavo denies recommended rehabilitation treatment.
Feb 1993 - Schiavo and Terri's parents have falling out regarding lack of therapy for Terri.
Feb 1993 - Schiavo withholds medical information from Terri's parents.
Feb 1993 - Schiavo posts Do Not Resuscitate order in Terri's medical chart.
One thing we don't know: the exact circumstances surrounding Schiavo's termination of rehabilitation on Terri. This has been, for me, the most unclear thing about all of this - I've yet to read anywhere, pro or con, as to why the rehabilitation should have been stopped. Other than the blank assertion that her case is hopeless, no other reasoning has been put forward. Now that we've got a timeline showing that the decision to terminate was made right after all the money was awarded, it is an indication that there might be some other reason than "mercy" behind the decision to terminate care.
Another thing we don't know: what caused the "collapse". Doesn't that strike you as an odd word? What was it? A stroke? Heart attack? Has anyone ever heard of the cause of Terri's malady? I haven't.
What all this adds up to for me is that we've got reasonable doubt as to the motives of Mr. Schiavo; certainly enough doubt to decide to take the care of Terri out of his hands - perhaps not enough doubt to place her care in her parent's hands, but enough to at least get a completely independent medical examination of Terri. Once that examination is done, then we can proceed with at least the firm knowledge of Terri's physical condition.
Hopefully, this or something like it is what the judge will order today.
UPDATE: As regards what happened to Terri, a reader advises that some believe she had an eating disorder, while others suspect foul play. As this is the first time I've heard anything one way or the other, I thought I'd post it. If anyone has better info, please e mail me.

How can justice be said to have been done when the power of life and death over a human being has been granted to a person who has such a glaringly obvious vested interest (financial or otherwise) in that human being's death? If this happens, there ought to be quite a tremor in all of those retirement homes down in Florida.

I found this and a great deal more information at "No B.S. News and Commentary":
"... it appears that Terri Schindlers suffering has been at the hands of her husband, his lawyer and that judge. Several acquaintances of the Schiavos have told the media (and law enforcement) that the Schiavos marriage was anything but peaceful, and that Terri was talking of getting a divorce, and that Michael was violent and physically abusive. All of that could be fiction, if not for the physical evidence of Terris injuries. Contrary to the fiction being reported by the AP and network news media stories, Terri Schindlers life and death struggle did not begin with an eating disorder, nor a medical condition. After her highly suspicious heart attack, sending her to the hospital emergency room, doctors discovered, confirmed by x-rays, numerous broken bones and fractures and her body covered with bruises and abrasions, and neck trauma consistent with strangulation. It wasnt an eating disorder and potassium deficiency that caused Terri Schindler to fall ill - it was an attempted murder . . . a gruesome beating and an attempted strangulation, both of which always cause the body to be rapidly depleted of potassium, as the body goes into shock."

If what I posted above is the case, it would explain Michael Schiavo's insistence that nobody in Terri's family be allowed to see her medical records after her initial collapse.
This man should be brought up on attempted murder charges or at least seriously investigated. Sure, he's innocent until proven guilty, but it appears somebody with influence is preventing an investigation or, at the very least, overlooking evidence that would support one.

Now that we've got a timeline showing that the decision to terminate was made right after all the money was awarded, it is an indication that there might be some other reason than "mercy" behind the decision to terminate care.
The timeline was clearly built by people opposed to discontinuation of treatment, but even if we take it as gospel, it indicates Apr 1991 - Terri's husband advised to move her to Gainesville Rehabilitation Center to receive advanced therapy to continue Terri's recovery and then in July 1991 she was moved out of the Rehabilitation Center, and the court cases were not decided until 1992.
It is clear from looking at the timeline that a falling out between the families occurred in Feb 2003, so I don't think that much can be drawn from the fact that someone on the family's side says he refused treatment in Feb 2003. If Rehab was appropriate why was she moved out of the Rehab Center in '91.
This situation has been to the courts many times already. If any of the things that you suggest were even possibilities, don't you think the family would have brought them up in court.
Let the poor girl go Home to be with Christ.

Don, letting the girl go home to be with Christ would be fine if it weren't for the fact that she doesn't want to be starved to death. The last time they removed her feeding tube, she showed signs of great distress. She's not "suffering" - she's disabled. Just because she's not able to feed herself, doesn't mean she should have to die in such a horrible manner.
Judge Greer has made it possible for a husband to kill his wife in the past by refusing her request for protection from him - I don't trust him. Not everything is always as simple as it appears - no conspiracy theory, just reality.

The fact is, back in 1993, Michael Schiavo did not allow Terri's parents to see Terri's medical records. If the records would have shown that she was brain dead and beyond recovery, why wouldn't he show them to prevent the next 12 years of court cases?
As Mark noted in another post, if there is nothing to hide, then why hide it? Hiding something tends to open the belief that there is something worth hiding. Terri's medical records from 1993 should be made known so as to know why Michael Schiavo's decision was to allow her to die. It is as simple as that.

I for one am a proponent of "the right to die" in dignity, however this case is definitely different. Terri's husband wants her to be dead for financial gain. If that wasn't the case he would have divorced her and let her parents take care of her. But no, Michael stands to gain from her death. I side with Terri's parents 100% in this case.

This case, is one of "Assisted Murder"...HER Husband, being assisted by whatever legal beings
that are declaring this woman can be "put down" like some dog. IMO this husband, could have gone on with the life he's been leading with another woman/children...BUT should be investigated, for his being so anxious, right after receiving the settlements, to stopping Teri's rehabilitation.
WHY? Because, he didn't seem like he wanted her to get better. When he won't give the medical records to her parents/ and give Teri to her parents who want to take care of her...HE IS HIDING SOMETHING. She looks at her parents, does
respond to them, and according to their website,
says some words.....WHAT JUDGE, would condemn this woman to death, by starving her? Someone that is obviously being conned by her husband. It
should be noted, that Schiavo, "Says Teri wouldn't
want to be kept alive like this"...THESE, are his
words, and not the words that 'anyone else ever heard Teri state'....THAT, is NOT enough to 'put her down like some dog'....If this husband didn't
have something to HIDE, he would gladly let Teri
go home to her parents who WANT to take care of their daughter. AUTHORITIES NEED TO INVESTIGATE THIS MICHAEL SCHIAVO....HE'S BEEN TOO ANXIOUS ALL ALONG....If he cared, he would have continued to get his wife rehab....BUT, he stops it, 3 months after the settlements. SHE needs further protection from HER HUSBAND.

See post #300.
But I respect your opinion. I'm glad it's not my family fighting this fight.
Do you have a link for that? It was my impression that MS claims the only time she made the "wouldn't want to live like that" comment was right after watching a movie that involved someone being on life support.
I've also heard friends and family of Terri say that she used to visit her own aunt in a nursing home on a frequent basis. The aunt was on some sort of life support and Terri never once made a comment during those visits about end of life wishes.
"NORA WILL BE ON HANNITY ON RADIO TODAY AT 2:00PM ET AND ON HANNITY TONIGHT..."
Sean's show does not begin until 3pm EST. ????
About your tagline, " (I trust and admire Rush. He has done more for this country than he will ever know. God bless him.),"
You are so right! After the long dearth of information from the conservatives, my husband came home one day and said, "Quick put on 930 AM and listen to Rush. Then tell me what you think."
My response, after the first time I heard Rush, was, "Thank God. There's somebody out there who thinks as I do."
Because of Rush, there has been an explosion of other conservative radio shows
Yes and the other "witnesses" to Terri's supposed wish to not be kept alive, where Micheal's brother, sister-in-law, and friends---none of her friends said she would want to die, in fact, they say she was a "good catholic" and would feel strongly the opposite of what MS says...
I respect your right to yours :) Though the everybody does it defense (thousands of times a day in this country), even if true, doesn't wash with me.
Those pictures...they're going to kill HER, she barely looks sick at all. She sure looks healthier than I do. And they're killing her. For convenience, or a criminal coverup.
*sob*
You've been told your timeline is wrong. I think I gave you another one but perhaps it was another freeper.
After over 5 years of therapy and experimental therapy, he gave up. So would I.
Let's just agree to disagree, okay? YOu think he's a monster and this is a horrible, murderous thing he's doing.
I say it's done thousands of times across the nation to PVS and other kinds of patients for which there is no hope. Well, and I don't just say it. Doctors and congressmen testified to it the other night.
So let's just respect each other's opinion and let it drop. Okay?
I really was more interested in freepers not perpetuating the lie that Terri never had a CAT scan, etc. I'm not saying you were part of that.
We'll talk some other time on some other issue, I'm sure.
Ping to #292. Great post.
Could the family fight over Terri really be as sordid, and as simple, as that?
I have assumed the worst about Michael and I have attributed benign or benevolent motives to her parents. Were these assumptions were naive?
In the name of fairness, I admit I have wondered what the parents stood to gain by assuming Terri's guardianship.
I'm not inclined to defend or like Michael Schiavo...but is he really the only vulture in this story?
My sister is an RN, she's qualified to train new prospective nurses.
You might want to read the Wolfson report. I don't think his timeline quite matches that one. Or if it does, it's a little more detailed.
Some congressmen who are doctors testified to this. Doctors in any major hospital will tell you this.
Congresscritters shared stories of their parents and relatives who had gone through similar pain. I don't think I know of anyone who hasn't had to turn off a machine or remove a tube from a loved one.
But if this means the country has a national conversation about how people should die, or live indefinitely on machines, that's a good thing. The only good thing to come out of this, that and that people will think about getting Living Wills.
I do know what PVS is, I was a medical assistant in a Neurologist's office for years---
BUT, you have to admit that Chris Reeve was on MORE life support than Terri---
We had a lot of stroke patients, cerebal palsy patients, that were worse than Terri, and NO ONE ever even mentioned starving them to death---NEVER!
Three people testified in court about Terri making these statements. Michael's brother and sil.
It was during a time someone in the family (mil?) was dying. There was also an incident when she saw a Joan Quinlan movie. There was another relative who died too and it was mentioned.
I don't know. The link is on FR somewhere. That's where I read it. It's also available in court testimony which I've been linking for days.
You will have to forgive me if I don't go searching. Well, you don't have to but I hope you do :-)
I appreciate your effort in educating people. I for one had not seen all the facts you have provided.
I was very interested to read the article about the malpractice, and how all the trouble between the parents and the husband started when the parents didn't get what they thought was due to them.
I'm not for starving the lady, but I'm also not for demonizing her husband, he is portrayed as a monster but I don't believe that is fair.
A couple of years ago, in fact, it was right after Mickey Mantle "jumped" the list and got a liver donated, my HMO doctor, asked me & my husband if we smoke or drink and how much. We had to fill out a form. The doctor was annoyed we had to do this, but said it was new policy.
I told my husband it was because, in years to come, if we needed a liver, due to drinking, or treatment related to smoking.......they wouldn't treat us.
They would say, Hey, you've been drinking and/or smoking for 40 years.........we can't help you.
Maybe they should put panties on her head.. (Sorry for the sick joke.)
Chris Reeve and Terri had nothing in common.
Chris could talk and think. It's two entirely different situations. SO are the other instances you mentioned. There's just no comparing or talking about them in the same sentence.
