No annulment or divorce under FL law is permitted in this case.

I suppose he could, but to what effect? What the Pope does has no legal relevance in any state in this country. Marriages cannot be disolved by religious organizations...only in court.

The bishop could annul the marriage, but that takes longer than going through the courts.
