ONE-TERM HILLARY?
New York Post ^ | March 22, 2005 | John Podhoretz

Posted on 03/22/2005 4:55:41 AM PST by billorites

A SENIOR official in the Bush administration says he doesn't think Hillary Clinton will run for reelection in New York in 2006.

"You miss all those votes" if you try for the party's presidential nomination while still serving in the Senate, the official said. And, the official added, you don't want to be put in the position in which John Kerry found himself in 2003, when the Massachusetts senator felt compelled to vote against the $87 billion package of reconstruction and military aid for Iraq and Afghanistan because he was fighting for his life against the antiwar candidate Howard Dean.

Kerry's vote may have been necessary for his struggle in the Democratic primary, but it was ruinous when it came to the general election. It was, said the Bush official, "the gift that kept on giving."

You can see why Hillary might be wise not to seek a second term when you consider the extraordinary situation in Washington this past weekend, as Republicans forced votes in both chambers of Congress on the highly polarizing matter of Terri Schiavo's life and death.

This is exactly the kind of vote that would and should terrify any Democratic senator looking to expand his or her political base beyond the blue states. The passion surrounding the Schiavo case is a perfect reflection of the cultural divide between those Americans in whose life faith plays a central role and those who fancy themselves the heirs of Enlightenment reason.

On abortion, Hillary Clinton has begun trying to stake out a position that might straddle this divide. That's mostly just talk. What we saw this weekend was that there are times when politicians who blather about common ground on social and moral issues have to end the blather and take a stand one way or the other.

Hillary Clinton is a two-faced, sadistic, lying sack of Shi_ who cares nothing about anyone but her miserable, depraved rotting self.

Cast your votes in 06 and beyond based on that Truth! :)

Facinating, and I think quite wrong. Hilary does not want to be, or run as, an ordinary citizen.

Why would she give up that power base? She will run and probably be re-elected. She seems to like the power and position being a Senator gives her. Of course, she will run for re-election.

Interestingly, no one is talking about Hillary's absence (along with Schumer)from the Senate on the day they voted on Terri Schiavo. I predicted this on another thread. This woman is nothing more than a creepy, lying, hypocrite.

And the democrats thought Karl Rove got out the Conservative/Republican voters? If hildy runs there will be a tidal wave of Conservative/Republican turnout.

"he doesn't think Hillary Clinton will run for reelection"

The only reason she that will drop out of the race is if her polling numbers indicated that she would lose. A defeated Senator running for president would be able to raise a dime's worth of campaign contributions.

As if the media would ever point out her shortcomings.

She'll get a free ride to the senate AND will have no opposition of she decides to run for the nomination of her party for president.

From Padhertz: Thus, Hillary's departure from the Senate could lead to a Republican pickup there and Giuliani in the Albany governor's mansion. This is a major two-fer — in part because Governor Rudy would be almost a certain vice presidential nominee for the Republicans in 2008.

Hillary could do herself some major damage inside her party if she causes it to lose ground in the Senate and lose its best shot in Albany in a decade.

Decisions, decisions . . .

Hillary! will make the decision on one criteria and one criteria only: what is good for Hillary!. The best the Democrats can hope for is that Hillary! will conclude that it will hurt her Presidential ambitions if she is seen leaving her party in the lurch.

But I would not place too much confidence in that position, if I were the Donks. The Clintons have destroyed their party, reducing it to a shambles, a shadow of it's former self, but this has not hurt them at all. Perversely, the more they hurt the Party, the more the Party Faithful love them...

I posted last week that, the way the msm whitewashed Kerry last year, by '08, they will have 3-inches of impenetrable shellac around Hillary. The way msm fawn over her and Bill even now is sickening [and the Bush family fawning is also sickening]. Hillary book 'vetted' all her ills, so that will be swept aside in the future.

If Podhoritz is using a crystal ball... it ain't a good one.

Hillary saw Lieberman accept a VP position AND RUN in 2000! Her re-election is a given... few want to risk challenging her.

She'll miss the same amount of votes as Kerry did... but the media just won't cover it.

I agree with you. Hillary needs the information she gleans from serving in the Senate and sitting on the Armed Services Committee to undermine the US and attack any future opponents.

"If you elect me governor, I will not run for president". Bill Clinton, Arkansas, just before being elected governor, and just before running for president. These two have no honor, and will tell you anything you are stupid enough to believe, to get what they want.

Interesting juxtaposition of the near fatal fall and complications sustained by Bob Dole and the orgasmic reporting on bill.

Turns my stomach.

Thankfully there are other venues for information that will keep hill's worker bees on their toes.
