It may be God's will to bring her home, but it's still God's will for us to fight against using death this way....IMHO

As I understand it, it's a ruling on an emergency motion to restore the feeding tube. In ordinary cases, you can appeal something like that even if the whole case hasn't been heard. It's not done that often, but it's done.
That judge might as well have issued a statement that he had no intention of conducting a de novo review.

Why use "victory" when speaking of MURDER? Agreed! I'm at a loss there as well. I thought I heard them attribute the victory to Michaels side.

Some FReepers are coming out of the woodwork cheering this decision. "Sorry that's she's dying and all, but praise be the Constitution is saved! States rights are alive and well!'
It's like the old logic, "we have cured the disease but the patient died." Sort of the metaphor on what is going on there.
Guess what, you fools. You haven't won anything. The Constitution and the courts are in as bad shape as ever. They've just used your own respect for law against you. They'll be back tomorrow pushing the Bill of Rights through the shredder as always. They got what they want by pretending to give you what you want.
I'm a believer in the saying that the Constitution is not a suicide pact or a pact to kill someone.
"The devil can quote scripture for his own purpose" but that doesn't mean he's converted. To think that activist judges and liberal politicians have changed their spots overnight and become strict Constitutionalists is fantasy. I'm sorry to see so many FReepers indulge in it.
The Consitution is being used as toilet paper by the judiciary while they claim to be following it. Once they get to a certain point, they will ditch the Constitution much like a bank robber ditches an old car used in a getaway. Sadly, some people don't see that.
I hate to sound like Anakin Skywalker (the future Darth Vader) here but "the Republic is broke" and if this continues, we will pay for it one way or another.

Per Fox: "This is an enormous victory for Michael Schiavo." VICTORY = MURDER.
Disgusting!

It may be God's will to bring her home, but it's still God's will for us to fight against using death this way....IMHO Oh yes, I agree! This is murder - no doubt.

That judge might as well have issued a statement that he had no intention of conducting a de novo review. Agreed. He's done the complete automatic thing here: He's taken the "facts" from the Greer case, from which all contrary evidence has been eliminated, and ruled on that basis alone.

No one should be starved to death. That's unethical. I personally agree with you on that. And imagine my surprise to find that starving to death is in fact not uncommon. Another post here referred to that firefighter who was starved to death, and there is the Cruzan case as well. Each of those represents and reflects the state of the law and medical profession, and no doubt represents a fraction of the situations where starvation was used to terminate a healthy body.

Leben unwurdig leben - life unworthy of life.
It appears that the majority of Americans, according to the polls, believe that Terri should die because hers is a life not worth living and that she would want to die - same rationale used by the Nazi's to kill the mentally retarded, the mentally ill, and the phycially handicapped.

VICTORY = MURDER. Oh - I see what you're saying, Nic. Where is the victory in murder (There is none)
Although one could say that it was a victory in a sense for M. Schiavo in that he is finally getting what HE wanted.

Exactly, WHY would ANYBODY say it was a VICTORY to KILL SOMEONE?
To: newzjunkey
Do you know what NEGLECT means? Sure do. It means withholding any kind of therapy to see if Terri might be able to have any recovery. Let me ask you this, why are you and Michael so afraid of even giving it a try?
She won't recover. Her body's been dying (slowly) all the time.
Dying slowly all the time? You mean like every other person on this planet? She's lasted 15 years and is still going...that's a pretty long time to die.
I'm sorry Terri's body's resisted giving up all these years
I could say the same of you. You're just resisting giving up on life. By the way, mind telling me what terminal illness that Terri is resisting?
because she surely deserves to finally rest in peace.
Show me how she is not in peace. Is it because she is just a "useless eater"?

We baby boomers have reaped what we have sown. We stood by and allowed the few to speak and control on our behalf. Now I understand pre WWII Germany more and more.
I myself am feeling old reading this thread. Growing up we never imagined in a million years that things like this could ever happen again and now they are.
I felt chills and still feel them and am just dumbfounded at the way the press relentlessly dehumanizes her to the point where people think that killing her (aka 'letting her go') is helping her and it is the humane thing to do.
I remember back in the 60's asking one of my school teachers how the Nazis could kill so many millions of people and feel nothing and seeing the movie reels explaining in scientific detail how the Jews were not human.
We get older my FRiend but we get wiser as well.

Actually most are gone now.
But in the 'old days', walking into the funeral parlor for the wake was like walking into the middle of a flock of Vultures feasting on a carcass.
Disgusting, vile people - I spit on their graves. (actually I won't even go 'visit' them.)

And then the second part, if she did NOT want to die, then she is a greedy b!tch and should have "care withheld" for that reason. Arrrgh! I can't deal with this. Bye-bye.

This is the way that MSM bias works--a thousand cuts every day. I see it all the time with the politicians and media types {loosely called "reporters"]. ABC did a virtual pushpoll asking (in so many words) if Terri should live or die. The lopsided result against Terri's life is now being used as evidence that she should die.
