Very well stated. I can't believe as a society we are going to slowly starve this INOCENT woman to death when the guilty among us get 30+ years of court appeals and then a quick and humane death sentence! I thought starvation would fall under cruel and unusual punishment. We as Americans are going in the wrong direction.

I believe they tried that (I could me mistaken on this) and were told they had no standing.

Yep. Michael is the guardian, so only he can legally speak on her behalf and instigate a divorce.

Note, like Judge Greer, this Judge did not go see Terri himself or order any independent doctors visit her.

Judge Whittemore just took Greer's word that all his rulings were correct.

Clinton appointee, former personal injury lawyer, and former public defender. If it was a convicted criminal, he would have ordered immediately that the tube be reinserted and appoint an independent medical review. I thought the term "de novo" was in the law passed early Monday morning. This judge must have thought he was an appellate court.

I heard this on Fox news and can't even begin to describe my despair.

Folks, COULD WE ALL BE WRONG?

I am hearing about "nineteen judges" and then congress passes the new law.

They desperately want to KILL this woman when, given all the issues, what the heck can it hurt to keep her alive a bit longer?

We HAVE to be wrong, or at least those of us who think Terry should not be starved.

Surely?

I give up. I just give up. There MUST be something I am missing here.

"The family should remove her from the facility forthwith"

I am sure they would be arrested or shot if they tried to force their way into the facility.

the Judge says she was given due process .. which is why he denied the families petition

If that is the decision then they are home free on appeal, because the law gave the federal courts jurisdiction to try the case. It isn't an appeal. It is a de novo hearing. What part of that does this judge not understand.

Although it seems ludicrous at first, I suppose one could argue that denying this woman relief through her wishes for so many years could be cruel and unusual punishment.

And as for the 14th, you make a good point that the Feds could have had the right to step in and order the tube removed much earlier, since her Liberty was violated in all these delays.

You, apparently, want to go back to the days of the Articles of Confederation, where individual states were sovereign as opposed to being under a FEDERAL authority.

Well, now that you mention it... ;-)

A move in that direction would be a plus, if we're going to see ex post facto legislation like this travesty coming out of Congress. What citizen can be secure in rights if the Feds can come in and delay them at whim?

But let's say this law is okay. Fine, the judge reviewing will find there's no infringement of rights except for the delay in implementing her wishes.

Eight years, you say? I've heard three years. Seven years.

It's like that Bob Dole ad using Clinton's proclamations about when he'd be able to finally balance the budget.

Certainly this innuendo means nothing. Any facts on had were all brought to bare in the legal proceedings by the parents.

Amen!

Remember that when Jesus died on the cross, He was unable to do anything. His hands and legs were nailed so that he could not move. He just had to endure the suffering and mocking and other torments.

Terri is similar in that she cannot get out of the bed to get a glass of water, and her parents, like Jesus' mother, cannot give her something to drink.

The soldiers gave Jesus a bitter vinegar to drink to be even more cruel to him. Some have referred to this as the Fourth Cup [Scott Hahn].

One must remember John 3:14 through John 3:16 [and not just John 3:16]. For many have been healed by looking of reproductions of Jesus on the cross. Movies like the Passion has helped to heal sinners just as the Seraph staff of Moses healed the disobedient children in the desert.

Gazing upon a cross with the image of Jesus, in all his suffering nailed to it, can heal inner wounds by allowing us to know what Jesus suffered for our sins.

"wishes" don't hold up in a court of law. Except in this one, which considering the background history of Greer and Felos, well, it's no surprise. Don't side with them.

And Terri supposedly made her 'wishes' known in 1997; at a time when she is, according to Michael and Felos, as bad as she is now.

If she was well enough in 97 to make her "wishes" known, then why are they allowing the same person to die now?

Michael wants her to take to the grave the secret of how she got to where she is. Period.

wishes do NOT hold up in any court of law, period.

And this ruling respects Terri's wishes. Good call, judge.

Apparently you missed the transcript of the Larry King show where her husband ADMITTED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TERRI wanted. Should I post a link for you?

I am hearing about "nineteen judges" and then congress passes the new law.

That's pablum. Only one judge, Greer, has heard the facts of this case. All teh others have only looked at the legal aspects of the case to make sure all the "i's" were dotted and the "t's" crossed.
