I'm just heartsick. At times like this, I'm reminded that justice and judgment are divine things that ought not to be placed into the hands of men who are deaf, dumb, and blind regarding the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

You have just verbalized, beautifully, what I have been feeling for the past few days, betty. Thank you.

This case somehow epitomizes all that is wrong with our society: The fact that law and justice are now ‘controlled’ by irrational, agenda-driven, secular forces. The fact that the average citizen is frustrated to the point of near hopelessness (were it not for faith) by the maze of judicial rulings and regulations that touch every aspect of our lives, and that have little basis in fairness and common sense, let alone spirituality. The fact that promptings of the Holy Spirit are afforded little or no place in a society that places more and more emphasis on secular utilitarianism. The fact that the ‘value’ of life is finding itself more and more defined by earthly, material, temporal considerations rather than the fact that it is God-created and of inestimable worth for that reason alone.

Those who have created these ungodly conditions will find themselves judged. And those who are turning a blind eye to the abominations might want to take personal inventory in order to discover why the unfairness and deadly oppression that is being meted out to their innocent sister does not cause them to want to come to her defense.

My thoughts, too, are continually turning to Terri and imaginings of her past and present sufferings. And when I find a disturbing sense of anger and hopelessness creeping in, I make myself reflect on Philippians 4:4-7: The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’

Your ‘praying, and praying some more’ is our most powerful weapon against such malevolence, betty. When the folly of man becomes so overwhelming, our only haven is in the knowledge that He is in control and that His grace is sufficient.

I know that you know, at least as well as I, that His word is true. And, whether or not Terri obtains justice in this earthly life, she will find it when she leaves here … whether her leaving is determined by His infallible timing, or the arrogance of man.

I am not a Catholic, but I have heard of marriages being annuled for certain reasons by the Catholic Clergy. Terri and Mike were married only five months when this awful thing happened to Terri.

Why can't this farce of a marriage be annuled?

Let's just imagine we were members of the Confessing Church in Germany, the Lutherans who would not knuckle under to Hitler and the collaborateurs.

But has Dr. Hammesfahr's approach ever helped anyone in persistent vegetative state? I thought not.

He went and examined her and thought he could help her. No harm in letting him try. Oh that's right, her estranged, adultering, husband in name only, wants her to DIE and asap.

Well it could have been. The marriage only exists on paper anyway, a legal formality without any substance to it. But were it to be anulled, then Michael Schiavo would have no legal standing to kill Terri. And for whatever guilty reason, he seems very badly to want her dead.

I prefer not to engage in useless rhetoric.

Then why do you persist in using it?

An annulment, even if it could be processed in record time, would have no impact on the legality of the marriage.

"IMO the Judge is in contempt of Congress for refusing to do a de-Novo review. He should be impeached immediately. Congress needs to send a message that its orders will not be disregarded by an out of control judiciary.""

How do we get Congress to do this? The judiciary is not afraid of Congress.

I've thought about this, and what it amounts to:

The legal system and democrats are filibustering Terri Schiavo to death by starvation.

Death by filibuster. "We didn't kill her, she just didn't live long enough for me to come to a sound legal conclusion."

What cold bastards.

can't be annuled becasue the marriage was not entered into under fraud, misrepresentation or duress.

In addition the evidence for no fault is "irreconcilable differences" He is not saying the differences are irreconcilable.

The only legal way for her to petition for divorce as an incapacitated person is to have her guardian petition for her. That is why the mother and father want to be the guardians.

I just though a little legal fill might be good FYI.

respectfully you are incorrect an annulment says there never was a marriage.

Annulment is not going to happen, period.

A divorce can only be petitioned by the guardian.

Unless michael stops being guardian, that is not going to happen either.

Florida law, from the Supreme court down, displayed it's political bias and contempt for justice, in the weeks following the 2000, Presidential election. As a matter of fact, the only rational conclusion one can form from the irratic behavior of Florida state courts and Federal,Clinton appointed judges in Florida in the case at hand, is that they are killing Terri to spite President Bush for winning the 2000 election, despite their best efforts to cheat him out of his legitimate victory.

Shame on those spiteful and decietful pieces of dog crap!

I think you're confusing me with another Freeper. I never said that an annulment means there was never a marriage. (I know that that is not the case.) I said that an annulment would have no impact on the legality of the marriage. (I didn't even touch the issue of why there will be no annulment, anyway.)

Nor even a foundation in rationality.

Terri is given food and water through tubes. Is disconnecting a feeding tube the same as ending life support?

Is it ok to not give a young child food? To disconnect their life support.

Even by not using the tube, she swallows on her own, so why won't her husband allow her to be hand fed by her parents or nurses?

They are depriving Terri of food. Would it be ok to station guards with you and every time you wanted to eat, have someone take it away before you could? To not give you a chance to eat. To not give you a chance to improve?

July 29, 2004 -- Dr. W. Hammesfahr, nominated for the Nobel Prize in Medicine, will be discussing the breakthrough he pioneered. Dr. Hammesfahr discovered that certain FDA approved medications may help increase blood flow to damaged areas of the brain after stroke and other injuries. Thus injuries that were thought to be permanent, even years after a patient had stopped improving, could now be treated successfully, and most patients would improve. Essentially, this means that most patients with permanent injuries from a stroke can get better, even years after their stroke. Most patients with permanent brain injuries, even years after their injury, can get better.

An internal Medicare review identified that this therapy helped patients gain significant improvement even years after the injury and years after they had stopped improving before obtaining Dr. Hammesfahr's approach.
Judicial Review in November of 2003 ordered Medicare payment for Dr. Hammesfahr's approach in conditions of the brain that involved damage, injury, or abnormal function of blood vessels. The judge noted that judicial review of the method, science, and results showed significant improvement. Further, he identified that there was no "viable alternative" to obtain improvement in these patients with longstanding as well as acute injuries to the brain and blood vessels than Dr. Hammesfahr's approach.

Further work showed that it was also applicable to other diseases of the brain where insufficient blood flow to the brain is a part of the problem, diseases like Attention Deficit Disorder, Migraine, Dementia, Autism, Asperger's, and Cerebral Palsy.

In clinical reviews, 98% of patients had major, functional improvement. These reviews were evaluated by Judge Susan Kurkland, for the State of Florida, Department of Health. She described in her ruling that this new therapy is safe, unique, and that Dr. Hammesfahr is the "first physician to restore deficits caused by stroke."

Dr. Hammesfahr will be speaking at the 4th International Symposium, the largest meeting or brain specialists for pediatric brain injuries ever.

Speakers from around the world including Mexico, Russia, China, Europe, and elsewhere will be meeting to discuss new approaches including Stem Cell work, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
