If this works does that mean we can pollute more, burn more fossil fuels and destroy more of the ozone?

Apparently PVC creates a lot of its own concerns. I would imagine that the amount needed to cover a glacier would be enormous.

What follows is a quote from a long article on PVC:

So what does all this mean? Is the PVC phase-out called for by Greenpeace justified? What would be the economic implications of such a phase-out?

At this point, we are left with more questions than answers. Greenpeace and the International Joint Commission on the Great Lakes have responded to significant environmental problems resulting from a class of industrial compounds with a call for their elimination. There is merit to addressing the problem of chlorine-related pollution and health problems in a broad manner as they are doing. One cannot ignore the million-plus pounds of vinyl chloride gas or the million-plus pounds of the plasticizer DOP emitted into the atmosphere each year. Or the 15% of cadmium emissions from municipal solid waste incineration that comes from PVC products. Or the evidence (controversial though it may be) linking PVC production and disposal to dioxin, PCB, and furan emissions.

what is genius is before the soviet union fell it was "NO NUKES" well then we won the cold war and started dismantling our nukes.
So the souless needed a god to chase after that couldnt be caught so it became.... "save the planet" something that is so large and so etherial that no one would or could prove it didnt need saving.
Global warming is just a sect of the secular piety of their religion. For some its the rain forrest, others the harp seal.

But funny, you dont see the great unwashed flying to iran to dust off their " NO NUKES" signs do you....? Now why is that? Hmmmm

Its all a way of displaying your piety to your friends, So you can identify with a cause. Of course spending your time trying to "save a chunk of ice" is just a natural way of worshiping the god you have created. Nothing more/ Nothing less.

When's their next windy season?

head's up on forcast of 3000 sq meters of chunks and pieces
of pvc foam flying through to litter the pristine alps.

What a waste of time.

Swiss technicians are to use a special insulating foam to wrap up a glacier that has been shrinking under the summer sun.

So, what happens on the underside of the PVC foam when the ice doesn't have access to natural sunlight any longer?

They may find it easier to try and turn the sun off. Or maybe they could cause a huge nuclear blast and change the tilt of the earth. Or maybe they want to tell us this tale while they have their mouth full of peanut butter.

This is blatant attempt by certain Swiss people to capitalize on the fear mongering associated with the Global Warming scare. Lots of photos and press releases will accompany this glacial shrink-wrapping exercise. This will bolster the forces of the Global warming scaremongers. Many of the people pushing this agenda are based in Switzerland.

This strategic maneuver by them is not surprising.

A million years from now, none of this will matter.

Don't glaciers always melt in the summer? In 1960 on a trip to Switzerland I visited the Rhone Glacier. They had made a tunnel inside of the glacier and you could walk deep into the center of it. There was a wooden path to walk on and the water that flowed to the Rhone River could be heard trickling all around you.

Ice cubes melt in the sun, any kindergardener knows that. But "scientists"?

There are probably hundreds if not thousands of species frozen in that glacier.
