I like how he still calls her his wife - all the while shacking up with the hooch.
Tonight I heard her friends on Fox. It was obvious Michael was a control freak. Terri was also planning to leave him, and move into an apartment with her friend. The friend also stated she often saw Terri with bruises on areas which could be covered up, upper arms and upper legs.
What we need is for the president to call on Michael to give custody over to the parents.
Which wife? Teri or his common-law live-in?
Per the invitation, The President should show up at Schiavo's door to see his wife Jodi, and have a chat with her.
He will let the president see but refuses to tape to show her current status?
If he was serious he would have an independent medical review show the reality of what her current status is.
No MSM mediot propaganda BS.
The MSM is worried about defending the courts and abortion. They could care less about this case.
That is not what Schiavo told the malpractice jury 13 years ago. At that time, he told them she was "highly responsive" and "curable" with "advanced rehabilitation" (actual quotes from his testimony). After convincing the jury she was quite alive and CURABLE, and would likely live another 41 years, the jury awarded Schiavo $1.2 million. Schiavo has used this award to build a new life with his common law wife and their 2 children. Even a judge as braindead as Napolitano can see two obvious reasons why Schiavo's custody of his former wife can and must be terminated:
(1) Fraud - Schiavo defrauded the malpractice jury by asserting (with 2 full years of observation of Terri) that she was "highly responsive" and "curable". and, once he had secured an extremely large award, terminated the care the jury had directed. Either he must return the entire $1.2 million award, or he must be charged with fraud. Either way his actions warrant termination of custody rights.
(2) Conflict of Interest - Under florida law, a spouse's custody rights must be terminated if it can be demonstrated that s/he has a "conflict of interest" regarding the well-being of the person under custodial care. In 1995, contrary to his promises to the jury that he would honor his marriage vows, Mr. Schiavo began living with another woman, by whom he has conceived two children out-of-wedlock. He calls this woman his 'fiancee', and is in fact of law his "common law" wife. Mr Schiavo thus has had assumable interest for over 10 years to end his former wife Terri's life so as to be free to marry his common-law wife and render his new children legitimate. This is an obvious and certain "conflict of interest" which--under Florida law--should compel any judge with authority over the matter to terminate Schiavo's custody forthwith. The Federal judge ought to do this posthaste. Further, that Judge Greer failed to do so is grounds for his impeachment and dismissal.
Oh.
Huh.
"I'm not sure we can get it done here in Florida," Martinez quoted (Gov.) Bush as saying just after a new Schiavo measure stalled in the Florida Legislature. "Do whatever you can federally."
The Governor of the State has found no relief and lost confidence in the Legislature and Judiciary and has called in the Feds. It can't now be said that the Feds have no business there.
The Executive Branch wields the authority of enforcement, security and investigation, Congressional investigations aside. Congress should step aside and let the President handle this.
Time for Federal Marshals and agents in black shiny FBI shoes.
"Michael [Schiavo] would say, 'When is she going to die? Has she died yet?' and 'When is that bitch going to die?'" Iyer charged. "Other statements which I recall him making include, 'Can't anything be done to accelerate her death, won't she ever die?' When she wouldn't die, Michael [Schiavo] would be furious."
Conversely, Iyer said that when she would have to call Schiavo to inform him of a downturn in Terri's condition, Schiavo would be elated.
"Michael would be visibly excited, thrilled even, hoping that she would die," Iyer recalled. "He would blurt out, 'I'm going to be rich,' and would talk about all the things he would buy when Terri died, which included a new car, a new boat and going to Europe, among other things."
Iyer also described incidents of Terri Schiavo talking, moving voluntarily and responding to external stimuli, descriptions that Iyer said were removed from Mrs. Schiavo's medical records. Both Law and Iyer reported Terri verbally communicating, also contradicting Michael Schiavo's claim that his wife was in a Persistent Vegetative State.
"During the time I cared for Terri, she formed words. I have heard her say 'mommy' from time to time, and 'momma,'" Law recalled. "She also said 'help me' a number of times."
Exactly.
Michael Schiavo should go to D.C. escorted by federal marshalls, and stay at government expense in a federal prison.
Christopher Reeve wouldn't have been able to shake the President's hand.
What would they have to him as well?
I would love to see the President visit Terri. Come on, sir. Take him up on the offer.
I think GW would just kick his ass.
