TAMPA - Capping a hectic night of action by the Republican Congress and President George Bush to pave the way, a new federal lawsuit designed to keep Terri Schiavo alive landed early this morning in the hands of a federal judge appointed by Democrat Bill Clinton.

"I don't think Terri can have an MRI because there are electrodes still in her head from the experimental therapy MS took her to California for and then never had removed (contraindicated to treatment, of course.)"
Could he have left that in there to be SURE that MRI's and other diagnostic equipment could NOT be used and cover up his cruel incompetence?
You can make metal non-magnetic.
I have screws in my jaw from jaw surgery, but the doc says it is perfectly fine to have an MRI because they are not magnetic.
She does not need scans.
She needs a clinical evaluation over a period of weeks with speech pathologists and therapist, occupation and physical therapists, a good neurologist and such. Only that will shed light. A PET scan might show function in her brain and responses in her brain, but what is needed is a good clinical evaluation. And that takes time.
I'm not fan of John Hostettler who represents my district in name only. I'm surprised the man can find his way back and forth from DC. If anything, he didn't vote because he felt it was the safest thing to do.
God is using Terri to get all of us fat sloppy lazy good-for-nothing so-called Christians OFF OF OUR FAT REARENDS AND DO ALL WE CAN TO SAVE TERRI. Sheeeeeesh.
My prayers are with Terri and the Schindler family. Also for Michael Schiavo's salvation. May God's love right this situation.
I agree with you, and I hope you didn't conclude that I wouldn't.
God is Good. When I see evil effecting its (weak) power, I trust that God, in His omniscience, allows it only for a greater good.
So yes, of course one of the effects of this is waking the Christian community out of their complacency.
Be my guest!
I think I was responding to your response to another FReeper who basically is giving up and trusting God which is great for her/him but we can pray our heads off and still work our heads off at the same time. I know we all agree on saving Terri. That's the main thing.
I agree completely with your post.
We should consider the fact that even if attempts to save Terri fail and she does in fact die, there may be a higher purpose in her death.
The fact that this case is so high profile might mean that even with her death, things might put set in place that serve a purpose larger than we can comprehend right now.
God's will is going to be done. We just don't know what means right now.
Which is what the Senate battle over judicial appointments is all about (and much more).
You are being unfair to the judge and again please be patient. Getting in front of a federal judge on the same day you file pleadings is as highly unusual as Congress convening on a Sunday.
What IF this judge is sympathetic? You don't know that yet. Some democrapps have been. If he IS one of them, then he doesn't want to be overruled on a technicality. That he is consulting with both lawyers on the same day the case was filed is very extraordinary.
The meeting with the judge and lawyers is a few minutes off, so let's see what happens before we start bashing this judge. I so sympathize with your sentiment, but also realize that to get before a judge on one day's notice is highly unusual. If he doesn't order the feeding tube be replaced after the 3:00 meeting, then you and I will join forces to give him the bashing he deserves.
That is simply not true, not for everybody. A lot of lawyers start out with whatever job they can get. A lot of times that's either as a clerk for a judge, an assistant DA, or a public defender. I know lots of lawyers who started out as public defenders who are very pro-life and conservative.
It's also troubling that he didn't issue a ruling right away.
Please see my post 175. Everyone is bashing this judge without realizing that he has sped this case up by weeks, if not months. Almost never does a judge hear a case the same day the pleadings are filed.
Until he makes a ruling, everyone needs to calm down.
Could he have left that in there to be SURE that MRI's and other diagnostic equipment could NOT be used and cover up his cruel incompetence?
ohhhh, what evil thoughts!! /sarcasm
(we think alike - lol)
I've not seen the pleadings. Earlier reports was that it was an injunction. Nevertheless, he is hearing the case the same day he got the pleadings.

Well, are you ready to call Judge Whittemore the accessory to murder, that he is, yet? You were giving him the benefit of the doubt and I understand, but facts do speak for themselves, as they have with his actions or lack thereof.
Sure am! Told you I would! I was hoping to prove you wrong, sadly for Terri I wasn't. Unleash the hounds.
