In any "ordinary" case, you'd be right and have my full agreement. This is an extraordinary situation and "the Earth had to be moved", so to say, to save this innocent woman.

There are times when principles that apply every day must be set aside for higher principles.

>>>What he was doing is discounting the logic of the poster to whom he responded. Much like I am doing with this and any subsequent posts you might make on this subject.

Thanks. I'll be sure to give your posts equal regard.

A lot of courageous men have done so. I thank God and I thank them all. I am especially fond of Tom Delay currently.

The president has struck a blow against the culture of death.

Hence, the hordes of hell do howl.

I doubt anyone was banned simply for disagreeing.

Some have a way of disagreeing distastefully and turning themselves into the troll of the day.

I'm guessing that the first recourse with a long time freeper is suspension before it is banning.

Ivan is spot on, though. Some folks don't realize Schiavo is a case about killing a woman on hearsay evidence. Expand that permission beyond this case, and the implications are chilling.

This must be stopped.

Thanks, MadIvan.

The only statement in the U.S.C. that reflects most of the original intention of the mandates is from Cummings v. Missouri (1867). It states, "A bill of attainder, is a legislative act which inflicts punishment without judicial trial and includes any legislative act which takes away the life, liberty or property of a particular named or easily ascertainable person or group of persons because the legislature thinks them guilty of conduct which deserves punishment."

Or, longstanding members and state's rights supporters who object to federal government intrustion (i.e. CONSERVATIVES) who want to voice their positions without getting banned.

How is it federal intrusion when it grants a permissive right to two people (the parents)? It's up to them if they take advantage of that right. The constitution ALLOWS congress to extend federal jurisdiction to whomever they choose. Read up on it. I'm disappointed you're taking the side of government (state) over people.

how does Michael Schiavo have a "right" to be Terri's guardian? He has abandoned her for another woman for years. Sorry but I don't see where he has a "right"

Thank you for coming back on the side of life and for Terri.

I've always been on the side of life and on Terri's side.

I'm just very misunderstood because I haven't let my emotions carry me away like some here have.

I've tried my best to use logic and reason. In my understanding and explainations of how it is she can be legally killed.

As wrong as that is it was and possible still is a very likely outcome.

I pray that she lives.

"President for Life"

And, as someone remarked in an earlier post, "life for president Clinton."

I too am concerned for Terri if Michael or his cohorts have access to Terri in this interim period. Isn't there someone trustworthy (not hospice related) who can watch over Terri to made sure she isn't further harmed?

It's frightening how eager some people are for this woman to die.

Are you suggesting that I personally benefit by government intrusion? If so, how, pray tell?

I sort of wish they would maintain this level of detail when it comes to whether a person should live or die.

LOL great point. This should be someone's quote of the day. PJ O'Rourke?

What I don't support is the eagerness for overwhelming federal intrusion into a state issue, as long as it's for "our" causes. I refuse to make anything and everything a federal issue; the Constitution provides for enumerated powers, and that's all.

Do you believe Terri was going to be deprived of life without legitimate due process of law? If so, then Amendment XIV.1 and XIV.5 authorize Congress' action.
