The Talmud says he who saves one person saves the whole world.

I'll have to think about that one. It sounds positive.

The link below is to a fine article on why Michael Schiavo, Judge Greer, the hospice, and perhaps even the Pinellas County Commission could well be quaking in their boots about now.

The national attention this story has aroused is going to shed a spotlight on the corruption surrounding Greer, Felos, et al -- or at least it should.

For me, although she is the focus, this story is less about Terri and more about the sort of chicanery common to local politicos nationwide when it comes to things like hospitals, hospices, care centers, retirement homes, and the like.

Always, always follow the money, and ask who benefits.

Do read the article. What a nest of vipers appears to be in charge in Pinellas County, particularly Judge Greer who seems quite obviously way too involved to claim with a straight face that he is an independent jurist in the matter.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the judge ascended to the bench shortly after serving on the Pinellas County Commission during a swampland controversy.

If you'll do a little Googling, you will find that a good many other local officials have ties to the hospice (by some accounts in debt to the Feds to the tune of about $14 million).

My feeling is that none of these people ever imagined that Terri's case would go national the way it did, and hence shine a light on them. Watch out for scurrying rats before this thing is over.

I'd have to say it's been a long time since I read something so blatantly unconstitutional (well... since McCain-Feingold anyway).

Since you already showed that you don't know what the phrase, "bill of attainder" means, I'll take your constitutional analysis with a pile of salt, thank you.

"Um. No. They're out of the loop. This is strictly a Federal Case now. But Greer needs to be arrested for contempt of Congress. I hope they find him in Contempt."

Oh, Thank God!!!! And I do, too, hope and pray they arrest Greer, and Felos, AND Michael!

"It is about beating back the culture of death. Terri is a symbol."

Well said. It's that and beating the enemys of Christianity.

Long live the Culture of Life as espoused by Jesus Christ our Lord.

The implication is a good or innocent person. We're obviously not talking about a terrorist or serial murderer.

Hey, how'd you like to be Schiavo's second "wife"?

She must be just a tad jumpy.

Um, why isn't this an unconstitutional Bill of Attainder?

A Bill of Attainder is a legislative finding of guilt. You can't be punished unless you are guilty. You can be found guilty by a jury of your peers or a legislature can simply pass a law stating that you (by name) are guilty skipping the trial altogether. But since the Constitution forbids a Bill of Attainder, the legislatures are forbidden from exercising that power.

This is not a Bill of Attainder.

What are your credentials to make you a constitutional law authority?

Stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FLA. LEGISLATURE? Couldn't they have enacted a law which would pertain to Fla. which would have taken care of this?

No. I don't like it either, but unfortunately, it seemed necessary.

Indeed. Or perhaps some pro-death fools that have already been banned.

I don't support big government either. But when it comes to an innocent human life, even it takes an act of Congress to help save her, how can you not support it?
