Republicans want life for those who cannot speak for themselves, and Democrats want death for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Some things never change.

"Republicans want life for those who cannot speak for themselves, and Democrats want death for those who cannot speak for themselves."

A REGRETFUL amen to that...

"There is no neutral ground in the universe--every square inch, every split second, is claimed by God and counterclaimed by Satan...."

"The very idea of freedom presupposes some objective moral law which overarches rulers and ruled alike...Unless we return to the crude and nursery-like belief in objective values, we perish."

This three hour debate should be shown in philsophy classes in universities around the country. And in ethics courses at law schools and med schools.

It definitely is a clear cut debate between MORAL ABSOLUTISM (Republicans) vs. SITUATIONAL ETHICS (Democrats).

The Value of LIFE is inate and invaluable vs. the Value of LIFE is relative with respect to other factors such as convenience, cost, lifestyle, trouble, etc.

The Republicans may well be "Playing God", a charge brought by Democrats.

The Democrats are just plain 'Playing Adolf Eichmann'.

Sad that that is pretty much what it's been reduced to. I am so offended though, at the people I've seen on tv or even in my own social circle who accuse the repubs of using this case for political gain. It is all about a human being being legally starved and dehydrated. Something that is illegal to do to an animal.

What offends me is that the democrats are always crying about those 'discriminated' against. Why doesn't Terri Schiavo merit them crying?
