1. A patient's right to die. (read- a husband's right to decide life or death for his wife. WHY aren't the feminists in an outrage right now??)
b. Fear of the slippery slope of people choosing life for their unborn children. (Dems. aborting their own future away has never occured to them)
4. If Republicans are for something, it MUST be wrong and needs to be stopped NOW. (This is the one I like. It makes for some crazed people saying crazy things).
The biggest reason is they're lost, flailing, and desperate.

Because the Republicans want it. For hysteric political Bigots like the current Democrat Leadership in the US House, that is all that matters. They have a chance to "win" on an issue. To these a@@ clowns that is all that matters.

Because they are terrified that somehow this bill will morph itself into a repeal of Roe v. Wade--

Everything with the dems comes back to Roe v. Wade--the judicial filibusters, and now Terri Schiavo---

I heard a dem activist on Fox the other day say that this is "the ultimate woman's right to choose" and she said that Terri chose death (because her two timing husband said so) --with no legal paper, of course.

In other words, follow the abortion (which is worth big $$$$$) to the dems

Abortion.

They are afraid it will set a precedent for someone stopping the killing.

Can someone sum up why the Democrats are against intervention?

There are several reasons.

This would help to establish a sanctity of life in law.The dems prefer a arbitrary quality of life standard that stays in line with their humanist/socialist agenda.
By establishing a sanctity of life they fear an undermining of the abortion industry.

Given that they have done poorly in elections and the SCOTUS,while not perfectly conservative, gives them much less than they want and became used to under Warren and Burger. As such they have come to depend on state and appellate courts to advance their agenda. That is why the panic over President Bushes nominees. This bill may set a precedent that an act of congress can supersede an action by a lower court, further cutting away their ability to advance their lib beliefs.

Lastly they have been looking to undermine and abolish the values and beliefs that this country was built on since they became enamored with Marxism in the 1920s.They wish to substitute these values with those in keeping with collectivism and away from our heritage of unique individuality, responsibility and independence.By reducing the sanctity of life to a cheaper level it furthers their agenda of uniformity and subservience to government.
