US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)

Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro

This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).

The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they don’t want to be known as the party that killed Terri.

This is American history happening before your eyes.

This is the end of the Democratic party as we have known it. You really can't win elections if your primary principle is to kill your constituents.

Great comment, except that you're operating under the assumption that dead people cease to vote Democrat.

Cold is a good name for you, as you are a cold one valuing your precious principles more than life.

If you would check your history, sir, you would find that Congress passes laws involving one person quite often.

As for Congress getting involved in a state matter, the federal Constitution has been violated in Terri's care due to the corrupt court of judge George W. Greer. This matter needs to leave his jurisdiction.

If the federal court, upon reviewing the evidence all over again, decides it was her wish to die, then fine.

I admire your devotion to federalism, but I think you are so wrapped up in the big picture you can't let yourself see that a woman is dying.

Not leaving the country. Just a wayward party and and forum that no longer expresses my views on a very serious constitutional issue. Also that the public relations manipulation stands out like a sore thumb and I get trashed for pointing this out, because of blind activism of a kind I have never seen.

The responses I get for this are that I am part and parcel of the death culture, that I should be starved to death and that I'm hiding my true feelings.

Well..........I think it is time to hit the road as they say.

I doubt anyone here will be saying "Fine" if it came to that. I certainly wouldn't, and I am sure Cold Heat wouldn't either.

I don't believe Fla. recognizes common-law marriages.

We established a precedent. I have a good feeling about it tonight since this country is NOT Europe. When given a choice, we chose the higher road. A good way for Christians to begin Holy Week!

We sure did -good posting!

Well, I don't know what else could be done beyond the federal courts. After that, it is the end of the road.

I hope the federal court will rule otherwise.

Did you read the bill? It specifically says it does not establish precedent etc.

First they file a case in the US district court in that region...then, they have a case ready for the 4th circuit appeals court in Atlanta if needed...

have defended the process that came to the conclusions that see had expressed her desire to not be kept in this condition.

This is really the crux of the matter, obviously.

I disagree with the process that came to this conclusion and that procedurally to reverse it meant going to the same judge to reverse his finding of fact. It is not likely open to appeal to a higher court.

The de novo will allow this critical error (IMHO) to be reviewed properly.

But given you believe it is/was truly her her desire, your conclusion is correct. This is the connundrum. I think, at best, the court should have ruled her desire is unknown - conflicting testimony both ways.

valuing your precious principles more than life.

More than one life........

Many thousands of patriots died for those principles, and still die today.

Yes, I value them more than one life,if that is what you call her existence.

You and I both FRiend, but I don't give up easily on Constitutional issues that effect every single one of us, including those who would blindly mischaracterize me part of the culture of death.

"her desire to not be kept in this condition"

We don't know what "her" desire was - and her husband has admitted he didn't know what it was either - but letting her die was what he wanted.

And .. just because the husband says she told him - his statement is really considered HEARSAY information.

Part of the problem I see is the fact that you wrote the Bible with a lowercase "b". That's a big red flag to me that you don't believe in what the Bible says - but rather in what man says. I find that very sad.
