US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)

Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro

This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).

The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they don’t want to be known as the party that killed Terri.

This is American history happening before your eyes.

I am sure this has been asked a zillion times, but what happens if after the President signs the bill, a dem goes to a federal judge to get a restraining order until the constitutionality of this bill can be determined?

That is bound to happen. However, it is unlikely that a federal judge would disallow reinsertion of the feeding tube.

Wasn't it in Florida that adoptive parents starved their children. I'm pretty sure they were charged. How come if providing food and water are extraordinary means of prolonging life ? sarcasm off

He's the only "Republican" I've heard tonight whose words really ticked me off...

You missed the hyphenated-name blonde female Republican from Florida. She advocates "abandoning" patients when the patient hasn't left a written directive.

We're not going to go extendio ad absurdam are we? We can restrict our focus to this individual case. Congress can act to relieve a single person, they do it all the time and always have.

"I'm Catholic so I can't quote chapter and verse, ha ha) about men calling evil good and good evil."

Another Catholic that's right there with you on that!

I'm not Catholic, but the reference is there. Here it is: (from the New International Version, or NIV)

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

The DemonRATs are setting the stage for the Baby Boomers right now. We have let our idea of the value of human life be lost in the mumble jumble of the court room, which is virtually hidden from the scrutiny of the public.

Oh my word, this idiot Mel Watt. "This may have cost taxpayers $4 million. How many children are starving tonight?"

Food stamps, a huge program, has spent trillions over the last 40 years to avert starvation. He's confusing the U.S. with the Sudan.
