You would think that eventually instead of handing out farm subsidies, we could put the farmers back to work and use the crops to make alternative fuel. it's a win win situation, but of course it would be too simple of a fix.
Being self-employed, I'm all for an honest profit on a day's work,
but the speculative bastards who produce nothing are doing more damage to us right now than the f'n terrs !
Time to drill off the coast of California and Florida.
Sunday night headline.
"Thank you", Democrats, for blocking all attempts to drill for oil in ANWR, off-shore, etc.
Chavez could really fu@k us right not if he wanted to, imagine if he cut us off. If gas gets up to $3.00 a gallon, theres gonna be problems, if it gets up to $4.00 a gallon, theres gonna be real big problems.
Also get rid of all of the damn EPA regulations and build more refineries!
T. Boone Pickens said $60/bbl and $3/gallon.
Close enough for crystal ball work! I've been taking my chips off the table!
Dump the "regional botique" formulations and get more danged refineries built... PRONTO!!! That's about the extent of the stupid GovernMental/EnvironMental created problem!!!
"Time to drill off the coast of California and Florida."
Bush II locked up Florida. Some say there's too much there - might "hurt" doemstic producers.
Im going to have to by a motorcycle, at least that will get about 60-65 mpg.
"Bush II locked up Florida. Some say there's too much there - might "hurt" doemstic producers."
Time to unlock it.
There is really quite a lot Bush could do. We also have refinery capacity problems. One of our biggest problems is all these differnt gasoline formulations. All we need is two; summer and winter formulations. Bush could order compromises on all the formulations to just two. He could relax regs that hamper new refinery capacity and US drilling & production.
Part of the problem is that the Saudis, etc. traditionally feared that high prices would propel massive research into alternatives. They have that fear no longer, our government in the oil industry pocket.
Once in a while "market solutions" are touted. But the "market" is invested in the oil economy, so that isn't going to happen.
Exactly.
The only problem is, is that it would probably take 5 years to get an refinery online, thats after the 5 year "environmental impact study".
There are now 60 different kinds of gasoline sold in the US.
To be even handed, the Saudis have several times pointed out the main cause of increased oil imports to the US. The relaxation of energy conservation rules for automobiles. NO. 1 by a mile - the redefinition of the small truck exemption to fit SUVs.
FYI to the "a falling dollar does not matter" crowd
A significant (not all obviously) hunk of the price increase is related to the devaluation of the dollar. Oil is a world commodity priced in dollars.
Weaker dollar = higher oil price.

Also, the rise of oil per bbl prices has nothing to do with US refineries or gasoline rules.
