I was asking Mo1 since he/she made the assertion. ;-)

"Well, your's is a whole new gambit"

Not my gambit, just passing along the news article. It is the answer to the question many have as to why hubby doesn't just divorce her.

I think that parents who would, according to the article which says the parents stated such in court documents, would do such weird too.

Or perhaps the power of the internet has given people access to things like court documents and people have read them and read them.

And if you took the time to look thru them yourself you would see this case stinks to high heaven.

Freepers lead the way in getting the truth out there about this case and most of us hope this type of case will not happen again.

This is not a right to die case- this is a right to kill case. BTW- I have spent at least three years following this case , and you?

"I heard all of it and was appalled that they don't even know she can't have an MRI because she has electrodes in her head."
"How can Frist not know this? HOW EMBARRASSING!!"

Maybe he should stick to cardiology and leave the neurology to the more informed?

How far would they go? Check out this article. It may give you some insight as to where MS is coming from?

Because of all of the proof in this case that Terri is not dying, not PVS and was put into this condition by strange circumstances, an activist judge, a shady lawyer and a husband who benefits from her death- which have not been addressed in court while Terri has her own representation.

"But don't you really think this would be the exception rather than the rule?"

With litigation at the levels we see in this country, exceptions become the rule fairly quickly - lawyers get paid when things go to court.

Expect more health care dollars to be siphoned off to handle all of this.

You ASSume I haven't looked. There are a great many documents here http://abstractappeal.com/schiavo/infopage.html#timeline

to which I have availed myself as well as information here
http://www.hospicepatients.org/dr-walker-t-schiavo-bone-scan-deposition.txt which I have also perused.

I found these two articles particularly interesting.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/columnists/orl-locmiket25022505feb25.story

http://www.freerepublic.com/^http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/nation/11175595.htm

Accordingly I've done a great deal of research on medical terms, diagnosis, and treatments for which I am by no means an expert rather deferring to those who are.

Have I missed something? If you have additional information I'd be glad to look.

Not to be picky, but it's in the comments section and written by....
— Wesley J. Smith is a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute and an attorney and consultant for the International Task Force on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide. His revised and updated Forced Exit: The Slippery Slope From Assisted Suicide to Legalized Murder was recently published by Spence Publishing.

While Mr. Smith certainly has credentials, he's hardly an objective source?

Which may or may not reflect the views of NRO?

"Because of all of the proof in this case that Terri is not dying,"

If you THINK about it, everyone is dying. She is PVS according to some experts.

***With litigation at the levels we see in this country, exceptions become the rule fairly quickly - lawyers get paid when things go to court.***

That road goes both ways In families where there is an inheritance waiting in the wings upon a death, rather than see that money/property go to cover the cost of the illness via direct or medicare/medicaid, a family member can suddenly remember that he had a conversation in which the patient professed the turn-off-life-support for himself, find a Judge Greer, and voila!! That is the slippery slope. All I am saying is this particular case deserves a fair hearing before all is said and done. Whatever the outcome, it should behoove all of us to set up a living will and keep it current.

Read the column. I heard some of those statements being made by Wolfson repeated by Schiavo on Nightline (an interview in which he said, incredibly, that he was offended at being called an adulterer). I would like to read about the rundown of the worst-case scenarios that Wolfson discusses, but the link that the Sentinel column lists as having his report brings you back to Thomas' column.

Ummm.. the other evidence has filled thread upon thread here at FR for years.

Where to start, that is the real question.

But you see, Doctors, lawyers, medical staff, Governor Jeb Bush, President George Bush, the GOP leadership ,our GOP representatives, Many in the Florida legislature, half of the Dems who were there last night, bunches of conservative writers and news people and tens of millions of people world wide disagree with your research posted here.

Does that tell you that you have missed something a long the way?

Not according to court records and even the parent's doctors. Where are you getting your info from?

Let me guess, you're getting your information from courts records of the insurance case?

I have no doubt he was such a loving husband then

But you know it's a correct statement. Many are speechless when confronted with reality.

" All I am saying is this particular case deserves a fair hearing before all is said and done. "

According to reports, this went through 19 judges and 6 courts so far. Whoever is the "loser" in the court battle will not call ANY decision by ANY court a "fair hearing" and will simply take it to the next level no matter what.

It's not like this all happened yesterday... it's been going on for over 10 years !

"...rather than see that money/property go to cover the cost of the illness via direct or medicare/medicaid..."

Where there is no hope that the patient will EVER regain anything remotely near a semblance of life ?

In this case, NO doctor who examined her has EVER said there is any possibly of her being restored to any sort of normal life.

... and when her money runs out, do we pull the plug then, or keep her shell running using more of the taxpayers money ?

Looking towards the future, the functions of the brain stem itself could very possibly be replaced by computer implants - when we can hollow out the entire skull and the body still breathes and swallows saliva, MUST we keep it running ?
