Interestingly, in the Christian church God desires the men to be the spiritual leaders of the home and church body.

I would rather more Christian men could be worthy of such positions.

"A female Islamic law professor condemned the act as apostasy, explaining that a woman's body "stirs desire" in men."

Maybe if they would stop forcing the women to wear bags over their heads they wouldn't be so depraved. How sick to accept that as normal.

"The origin is that the woman's body, even if veiled, stirs desire."

Perhaps these wackos need to learn how to spank their monkeys instead of their goats and camels.

Soad Saleh, who heads the Islamic department of the woman's college at Al-Azhar University, considered the act an apostasy, which is punishable by death in Islam.

Should she be worried?

Someone should send this to Ask the Iman.

Of course, how can we trust his answers since Islam, much like Scientology, has no problem lying to people not in their little club of death.

Let the real discussion begin. If Muslims want to 'speak' honestly with the West, they have to accept liberal idea (I'm not talking about American liberal) that people may say and do differently from the authority, and not trying to kill anybody don't agree with them (e.g. van Gogh). Likewise, "the West" need to see Islam honestly: as a religion, it has positive and negative sides. So far, despite all spins about discrimination, the religion is portrayed as a 'peaceful' one. Often the media backed off when the Muslims complained if Islam (or Muslims, the people) is portrayed differently. Just wait until every TV series has an episode about Islamic clergy had a sexual relationship with his pupils.

"Those who defended this issue are violating God's law," he said. "Enemies of Islam are using women's issues to corrupt the community."

The consider her guilty of the crime of bidah... Modernizing, innovation or doing anything to drag Islam out of 7th century purist thought is forbidden.

And its not just in the middle east... it was reported that 3 major NY mosques turned her down, and according to this article quoting one familiar sounding NY Imam, its just a "publicity stunt."

So correct - the only time women assume leadership roles in the Bible, is when the men fall down on the job. I am fortunate to have a wife who believes the Bible and expects me to be the spiritual leader in our household - until I was prepared for the job, she led by patient example.

When they are not outraged, the Muslims are "upset", "furious" or whatever. Yawn.
