Just heard on Fox that U.S. Senate will convene today in emergency session regarding Terri Schiavo.
Politicians in Britain have more likely won damages for libel than those in the USA, right? Remember, General William Westmoreland of SC could not even win when CBS accused him falsely of falsifying the number of enemy dead in Vietnam.

She isn't BRAIN DEAD unless someone produces an MRI - AND clinical observations by several expert neurologists over a period of weeks.
I base this on the experts cited by the National Review article that is online right now from the priest who has followed this case.
The fact that someone (Dr. Howard, I believe, a pro-death travel-round-the-country expert for hire) can examine her for 45 minutes, pronounce her brain dead (i.e., PVS), and be viewed as an expert by J. Greer is truly frightening.

Terri's family has had the benefit of excellent legal representation as well as the Governor's own top-notch attorneys, all of whom have scoured the case for ways to assist the effort to keep Terri's feeding tube in place."
Agreed but a federal law does create a federal issue and the mechanism needed to appeal up the federal court system. That will allow a federal court to grant a temporary restraining order.
If Greer & Co. ignore both a federal restraining order and a federal suponea then they will be dealt with.
CHAIRMAN SENSENBRENNER’S CAREFULLY CRAFTED “PROTECTION OF INCAPACITATED PERSONS ACT OF 2005" WOULD SAFEGUARD FEDERAL RIGHTS OF THOSE WITH DISABILITIES TO FOOD, FLUIDS, AND LIFESAVING TREATMENT
With the life of Terri Schindler Schiavo hanging in the balance, pro-life Representative F. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wi.), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, drafted a bill that would provide not only her but also persons with disabilities at similar peril with the opportunity to have their constitutional and other federal law claims heard by a federal court.
The bill, H.R. 1332, which was co-sponsored by Representative Dave Weldon, M.D. (R-Fl.), covers cases in which a state court has authorized or directed the withholding or withdrawal of food, fluids, or medical treatment necessary to sustain life.
Unless the person had an advance directive that, without dispute, rejected these measures, the case could be “removed” to federal court, which would thoroughly consider whether implementing the state court order would violate the person’s rights under the federal Constitution or laws. The federal court would not be bound by any prior holdings of the state court.
As Chairman Sensenbrenner told the House when it was about to vote on the bill,
“When a person's intentions regarding whether to receive lifesaving treatment are unclear, the clear choice is to provide an innocent person with the opportunity to have a Federal court provide a `double-check’ for life under Federal law, unencumbered by the decisions of a State court. A measure of a Nation's commitment to innocent life is measured in its laws by the extent to which the laws go to save it. This bill takes that extra step, not just for Terri Schiavo but for all of us.”
David N. O’Steen, Ph.D., called the Sensenbrenner bill “almost the ideal solution. There is no question that if it can be enacted, Chairman Sensenbrenner’s bill would provide critically important, and often lifesaving, access to the federal courts for people with disabilities threatened with starvation, dehydration, and denial of necessary medical care.
We commend Chairman Sensenbrenner for his leadership in drafting this bill and steering it to House passage, and we hope that the Senate can pass it so that it is enacted into law.”

The people don't know the details, probably the first time they ever heard about what Terri has been denied (like, um, sunlight?!) was when Tom Delay spoke at the press conference today.
I think if people knew the facts, the polls would reverse very quickly.
If it's so vulgar why do you continue talking about it? Where she mentioned it once - you've mentioned it 5 or 6 times.

Some people refuse to see that. Perhaps it is because they have no compassion either. Only a cold, Godless person would side with her husband.
The other obvious thing about this person is that he or she has a fixation with their arse.

I woke up on pins and needles, wondering what was happening with Terri. Any news to be found on CNN (my only American outlet) this a.m.? No.

I know for certain that Dr. K ended the lives of several people (an definitely the majority of the people he did this with) had ALS -
ALS is simply a brutal disease (and these people all asked for Dr. K's help in ending their lives) - While I'll agree Dr. K went off the deep end that does not mean there isn't a need for a more humane and dignified way of ending life under certain circumstances.
