Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), a renowned heart surgeon before becoming Senate majority leader, went to the floor late Thursday night for the second time in 12 hours to argue that Florida doctors had erred in saying Terri Schiavo is in a "persistent vegetative state."
"I question it based on a review of the video footage which I spent an hour or so looking at last night in my office," he said in a lengthy speech in which he quoted medical texts and standards. "She certainly seems to respond to visual stimuli."

I suspect it is because the source was Terry Randall and reported through Newsmax. When something hard comes along, it'll get out.
Probably because there is no tape of the incident. For some time now the "husband" has had standing orders that there are to be no recording devices in the vicinity of her room. Most murderers do try to cover their tracks...
It's frustrating...they do have power to stop this, and the sooner, the better. After very few days, I think it's as few as 2-3, there can be organ damage from the starvation and dehydration. I don't know how some people can sleep at night, knowing this is occurring.
The Dept. of Children and Families have tried, even going to the Court of Appeal and they have been turned down.
These are some of the same courts that tried to crown Al Gore during the last election.
They are under judicial directives. They did try to acquire permission to evaluate and investigate Terri's condition based on the Schindler's allegations of neglect. This judge wouldn't even give them floor time in court.
What tape? There is no tape of this. The Schindlers are not allowed to tape while they are there. If they had, which they could not, the tape would have been confiscated from them. I guess some are confused because they have seen tapes of Terri, into believing that Terri is being taped and the Schindlers are either doing it or accessing the tapes. Not true. It is expressly forbidden by Michael and Greer. The tapes you see were a fluke thing that was done some time ago and used by the Schindlers to show the truth about Terri. Their enemies blew a gasket, and they have made sure nothing like that ever happens again.
It's Easter Recess and the Senators are waiting for the Holiday/Garden Bunny to arrive.
Why isn't a deposition taken (under oath) from everyone in the room? That way there is a sworn account of what actually occured.
I don't remember his manner of death when he was executed--but I'll bet it was more humane than starvation and dehydration. A murderer of the worst sort gets more consideration than this innocent woman, whose only "crime" was marrying the wrong (really, really wrong) guy.
I was glad to read this son-of-perdition (Greer) had withdrawn his membership from a Baptist church over this issue. The congregation should have removed him from membership and publically denounced him.
7 years ago, one of my wife's best and longest timewise friends had a stroke post by pass surgery.
The neurologist, she ended up with basically wanted to pull the plug in the ICU. We could see that inspite of being unable to speak and at that time, paralyzed on her left side, she knew what we were talking about and responded with her facial expressions.
We were in the unit during one of the neurologist's diatribes where he was brow beating the daughters to get them to pull the plug on our friend. I asked if he was pro abortion and for the so called right to suicide. Without pausing, he said yes to both questions. At that time the daughters asked him to leave her mother and "fired" him as a consultant.
7 years later our friend still is not able to talk and has problems with movements on her left side. However, she is able to play incredible bridge with a system we designed to hold her cards and how to bid. She plays several times a week with her old bridge group and a new group at the retirement center she and her husband live in.
A couple of years ago, her accounting background came back, and she took over balancing their checkbook and paying the bills via the computer with her oldest daughter.
They sold their home a little over a year ago, and her non stroked husband, who is deficit re common business sense made a bad loan on a new car. She and her other daughter got on the computer and negotiated a new car loan. Her husband now gets an allowance and is not allowed to write checks nor sign any contracts.
She has lived to see her two grandaughters graduate from high school, and the oldest one just completed her nursing education and is in the process of becoming an RN.
The two grand daughters took her this summer to visit her son in Texas, and all of them had a great time.
She keeps track of all the birthdays and other important dates for her family, our family and other families. She selects the cards, has her daughter address the envelopes, and she mails them to each individual so the cards arrive on time.
Is she perfect? No, but she is alive and is an importatn part of her family, friends or our lives.
Post that again on any of Shiavo thread and you're out of here.
"but why can't protective services just simply step in and take custody of this woman."
They tried and the "judge" said they couldn't. He said it was a violation of the "separation of powers." Governor Bush lacks the hutzbah to use his executive powers in extraordinary ways.
Thank you.
Welcome.
That face exudes as much evil as does the faces of Sadam, Osama, Arafat, Stalin or any other souless monster ever photographed.
Dr. Frist, your retirement from the senate will be a good thing.
