Thieves take house piece by piece (Funny story)

Missing: One three-bedroom brick house.

Thieves have stolen a house in Lindale, Texas, in a piece-by-piece theft committed over several days.

The house is owned by a real estate company, which reported the theft.

Lindale Constable Dennis Taylor said he and other officers noticed some workers taking down the house brick by brick in broad daylight. They weren't suspicious, he said, because there's a lot of construction in the area.

Authorities believe a dump truck was used to haul away the materials.

No arrests have been made. Taylor said theft charges would apply if there are arrests.

My son came home last year to find his air conditioner missing, and a big new expensive air conditioner on his roof. It was supposed to be installed on the house next door. The contractor said, "I'd fire the idiot that did it, but he's my brother-in-law."

Lindale Constable Dennis Taylor said he and other officers noticed some workers…

Texas used to have constables. They were a weird bunch.

They drove a marked car from the standpoint that it had constable markings on the side. But it was one of the “subdued” types that had the lights behind the grill and over the back seats… plenty of little antennas sticking up.

The constable was armed, but wasn’t uniformed – unless you call blue jeans, boots, western shirt, and cowboy hat a uniform.

I know they were sworn officers, but mainly served paperwork. I’ve never known of them to actually stop and ticket or otherwise interact with anyone, though I suppose they could if they wanted to…

Holy crap, they took the whole house!?!

Several years ago when we were staying at the Jersey shore, there was a house rented by some young kids and at the end of the summer, they ripped out all of the copper piping from the house and sold it to buy beer.

Yes he did get to keep it. He even offered to pay some because he had intended to upgrade to a bigger more powerful unit, but I don't think the contractor would accept it.

Used to be quite common in St. Louis/East St. Louis for brick buildings to "disappear" overnight, with nothing but a big pile of debris and rubble remaining the next morning. No two or three story brick building was safe from the bands of well-coordinated thieves armed with appropriate equipment and manpower. The salvaged brick was loaded on trucks and shipped to western states for use in home construction. Both cities kind of looked the other way, as it was urban renewal on the cheap for them.

There are still constables in lots of places in Texas. They were originally to serve warrants and subpoenas. but some areas use them the same way any local police agency is used.

Within Harris County, there are several pcts. Pct 1 serves warrants mainly, but Pct 4 does regular police work.

Yes he is a Christian. This happened in Phoenix where the temps frequently go to 120 degrees. They really (desperately) needed a new air conditioner but it just wasn't in the budget...and then this one suddenly appeared on their roof! God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform.
