A mentally disabled woman whose court ordered starvation-execution began Friday attempted to contradict her estranged husband's claim that she wants to die hours before her feeding tube was disconnected, an eyewitness is claiming.
Barbara Weller, an attorney for Terri Schiavo's parents, told reporters Friday afternoon that during her visit earlier in the day she told Ms. Schiavo:
"Terri, if you would just say, 'I want to live,' - all of this will be over."
According to pro-life activist Randall Terry, who recounted the scene to radio host Sean Hannity, Schiavo tried desperately to repeat Weller's words.
"'I waaaaannt . . .' Schiavo allegedly said, in a prolonged yell that had police stationed nearby running into her hospice room.
"She just started yelling, 'I waaaannt, I waaaannt,'" Terry said, according to Weller's account.
At that point police ejected Weller, he said.
I am just skeptical of this sudden utterance reported only by her mother at a time when emotions are leading people to desperate acts.
If you aren't automatically skeptical of the outrageous surprise claims of either side at this hour, you are a prime target for any scam that says what you want to hear.
This IMO is no different then what Jack Kevorkian did
What a bunch of horse manure.
I am amazed at you people who have come here masquerading as conservative, spouting this crap.
You can add nine members of the Surpeme Court to your list because they ruled she has had due process.
The parents have been trying to say all along that Terri was responding. The husband has been trying to make sure that no one knew it.
I agree. It's chilling.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why the: "Judge has barred all audio video tapes in Terri's room." as you stated. If she is in a permanent vegetative state, then prove it - why hide her away from everyone??? This is breaking my heart, I can't understand what the judge is thinking and why he wants her to die.
You certainly don't know squat.
There are misguided and evil people in this world, that's the only reasoning I have to explain it.
That is pure BS
I am a big supporter of Terry and her family
But it's comments like that that turn me off!!!
We're fighting and praying for you, Terri!
This is just so heartbreaking. I'm just speechless.
Oh come on now!
On the other hand, if we asked her mother "Would say anything right now if you thought it would save Terri's life?" exactly how long do you think she'd think it over?
Frankly, I doubt the report.
If true, we would be hearing it from more people.
"When in doubt, kill."
Anything else?
For the attorney to have it on tape, it would have to have happened...
Howlin please spare me with the old canard that real conservatives can't hold wimpy conservsative pols' feet to the fire. You know how powerful the bully pulpit is. If President Bush can issue a symbolic pardon for a Thankgiving turkey he could have done something in the press to support Terri before now. And his brother has the power beyond symbolic leadership.
You want another thing to whine about? Unnecessary blood of our soldiers in Iraq is also on the President's hands -- not for invading Iraq, but to the extent that he did not forcefully demand that Syria and Iran stop their backing of terrorist attacks on them for two years after the invasion.
Welcome to FreeRepublic!
Thanks for joining us and having that be one of your first words.
We aim to inform.
If you'd like to do more, some people should be on this thread (or similar ones) soon with sites regarding Terri.
Until then, pray if you would. Every little bit counts. And this is not only her personal life we are praying for, but for presedence in the courts to prevent a society of death to the sick and elderly.
FRegards
