No. I disagree. The brain activity is decisive whether a person is death or not. Your heart is not the place where you feel, despite all other rumors. It is widely accepted that people (more precisely: heads) who died on the Guillotine lived on for up to 1 minute (until the O2 was burned in your brain) and showed reactions. When you are shot in the heart, it is possible that you don´t get unconscious and live on until your brain runs out of O2. But Terri still has brain activity, so stopping to feed her would be murder.

Been there , done that.

Both in my professional life and in my personal life.

There is one heck of a difference in withdrawing exceptional treatment from someone who is in the process of dying and withdrawing food and fluids from someone with a healthy body.

Hmmm, if she's enduring suffering, that would indicate she has feelings. If she has feelings she must be aware in some capacity. If she's aware in some capacity she must not be in a vegatative state or a vegetable. If she's not a vegetable then the whole argument for her death no longer applies.

Can't have it both ways.

Does anyone see the parellels between this and an abortion?

Two beings in a vegitated state at the mercy of outside forces they cannot control.

What is sad is that the system in place does not default on the protection of life but on the certitude of death.

This is a sad indictment of the inhumanity (evil) that passes itself of as liberalism.

Then why did she cry, when told by an attorney, what was about to happen to her?

The US has had a change of government during the last decades, and the federal government has become a behemoth. Our federal system is dying, while both conservative and liberals applaud, because their end justify the means.

We are becoming as centralized as France, where everyone looks at Paris for answers to their problems. Our Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves.

THis would be an excellent opportunity for Florida Freepers to take action. Make a stand at the hospice facility. If freepers can march with signs when a politician comes to town, they can certainly stand up for the life of an innocent woman who is being murdered by her adulterous husband and a corrupt judge.

I generally agree, but we accept when someones committs suicide, so we should accept the individuals´ decision - even if expressed through the unanimous voices of her/his relatives.

I went to school with a Christian Scientist guy who died after refusing medical treatment for his ailment.

Did HE refuse it, or did someone knock him out and then refuse it for him?
