ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. A 5-year-old girl was arrested, cuffed and put in back of a police cruiser after an outburst at school where she threw books and boxes, kicked a teacher in the shins, smashed a candy dish, hit an assistant principal in the stomach and drew on the walls.

Unfortunately that is true. Guess I'd need to homeschool nowadays.
I remember when my oldest daughter was 3 and we were in a restaurant. She was tired and began acting up. I gave her a warning and tried to redirect her energies. Well she continued to behave badly, so I got up to take her to our van. She knew what was going to happen and started to cry and beg for mercy. This one man on my way out the door spoke up and said you had better not spank that poor child. (he was not saying this in a joking manner). I continued to my vehicle, talked to my little girl, gave her a swift spanking and then calmed her down before going back into the restaurant. As I walked back by the man's booth he asked belligerently if I beat the girl. I said no I didn't and it was not his business how I disciplined her. I was shaking with anger at this idiot. I just knew he was ready to call the authorities on me! But yes this is the environment our teachers are forced to be in. Threats of law suits and loss of jobs keep them from restraining children.
I find it incredible that anyone would intervene between a misbehaving child and a discplining parent. Takes gall--and a LOT of arrogance. Good for you for sticking to what you knew was right for her! I'd rather my child play with your child than that man's child! Everyone involved is safer when children are properly disciplined.
Or...they're just brats that have no semblance of self-control. I think that my interpretation is closer to the truth IMHO
I sure that makes you feel better. But think about how your work would be if all the mentally ill people were not in the streets, but mandated to be in your office?
She is a victim of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy!
"She's never going back to that school," Akins said. "They set my baby up.""
Sheesh.
