ST. PAUL (AP) - DFLer Patty Wetterling has sent a fund-raising letter to supporters that says she needs help to make her dream of becoming a U.S. Senator a reality.

Party chairman Mike Erlandson told KSTP-TV that the letter was clearly an early indication that Wetterling is running for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Mark Dayton, who has announced he will not run for re-election next year.

Erlandson said it's too early to call Wetterling the favorite for the DFL nomination.

Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar also said she's moving ahead with fund-raising for a Senate bid. She told the television station that Wetterling's entry into the race doesn't change her plans.

Waitaminnit. I thought her dream was to run for Congress -- no wait, I thought it was to end child abuse -- no, wasn't it to GET HER KID BACK?!

I am growing increasingly sickened by Celebrity Victim Patty Wetterling. For her, having her son abducted and apparently murdered was the best thing that ever happened to her. It made her career.

I think Amy Klobuchar will clean Patty's clock. For good.

That said, the County Attorney will be a tough opponent for Kennedy.

I wonder .....

I think it will be an interesting insight into the "minds" of DFL primary voters. Or.... delegates? Did I read something about Kennedy counting how many delegates were committed to him?

Wetterling will run stronger than Klobuchar outstate.

But don't more than half of DFL votes come from the Metro? That's where Klobuchar will be strong.
