The nanny state in action. My dd didn't weigh more than 80 lbs until late 5th grade - age 11. They think she should have been in a booster seat at age 11 ? Fat chance of that.

Nanny state? Oh, I don't know. This sounds pro-life to me :)

I can't tell you the number of kids I see either unrestrained or unsafely restrained.

LOL I wouldnt have fit into a booster seat at 9.

The funny part is, from the time of my 9th birthday to my 11th birthday I was growing a lot. At 11, I was 5'10 and weighed nearly 180 lbs....

I'm sure some enterpising company will make something that will fit. Lap belts that go across the stomach instead of the pelvic girdle, and/or shoulder belts that go across the neck instead of the sternum are not safe.

The nanny state is getting out of hand. I wonder who is getting money from the booster seat industry?

This is the nanny state. Same as those enuchs who want all kids under 18 to wear bicyle helmets. When I was a kid I would have thrown the helmet in the river.

Really?

All this for private cars, yet kids ride without any seatbelts at all on school buses.

Why are seat belt not required obn school buses? Because it would cost the government too much money. But its ok for private cictizens to pony up.

Hypocrites.

Wrap them in cotton and hide them in the closet except for the occasional indoctrination session by the Visiting Tolerance Service who will help your child explore his/her sexuality while learning of the evils of capitalism and liberty.

Thank you, Masters. May I have another?

The bill would exempt from the mandate children younger than age 9 who weigh 80 pounds or more

Childhood obesity ROCKS!

My petite daughter needs the booster seat --- and she is the driver. Why don't they jusy lower the shoulder belts so that they fit five foot people? And tone the air bag bombs the same way? For smaller people with a seat on instead of a large UNstrapped person.

"This sounds pro-life to me :)"

Not when you're forcing it on others. Make your own decisions and leave others to make theirs.
