Bowles back to work for Clinton

Charlotte Democrat Erskine Bowles has gone to work for his old boss Bill Clinton, this time as a deputy United Nations special envoy to the Indian Ocean region devastated by December's tsunami.

"The United Nations will greatly benefit from Mr. Bowles' extensive experience in international affairs and his deep commitment to ensuring that the world does not turn its back on the tsunami victims," Secretary General Kofi Annan said in a statement.

Annan said Bowles will work with Clinton, who was supposed to start his job as U.N. Special Envoy for Tsunami Recovery this month. Clinton is recovering from surgery he had last week related to a heart bypass operation he underwent six months ago.

Clinton and former President Bush toured the tsunami-stricken area earlier this year. More than 170,000 in 11 nations died.

Bowles, an investment banker, served in several jobs in the Clinton administration, the last as White House chief of staff. He returned to North Carolina in 1998.

Bowles has twice run for the U.S. Senate, losing in 2002 to Republican Elizabeth Dole and last year to Republican Richard Burr.

After his defeat, Bowles said he was weighing options both in the private and public sectors.

The Associated Press reported that Bowles left for the region Thursday at Clinton's request to personally assess the lingering effects of the disaster as well as the global response. He was expected to consult a variety of groups to get ideas on how the special envoy can best help the recovery effort.

He is also expected to attend the Asian Development Bank conference in Manila on March 18.

If the Congress wants to get to the bottom of American involvement in Oil For Food, the Toons and some of their cronies need to be subpoenaed.

What? Does he work for Clinton or work for the UN? If he works for Clinton how can he work for the UN? If he works for the UN how can he work for Clinton? A private citizen.

Is he getting paid for this job or is he doing it for free?

Obviously, Annan needs Clinton and his document-destroying perverts to destroy documents.

Secretary of Defense Cohen, Impeached Bill Clinton, Albright, and long-accepted CODE-level thief
and document destroyer National Security Adviser Sandy Berger,
holding court in the Ronald Reagan Building on April 25, 1999
The Impeached Bill Clinton: "We were all making comments
we shouldn't have about how the meeting was getting very boring.
So finally we decided we had to make like the monkey. Cohen
started this 'hear no evil,' and then I was next so I spoke no evil,
then Madeleine saw no evil, so Sandy Berger said, 'I'm evil.
'"

Now there are four people to whom I'd send an Oil For Food subpoena...

I have two thoughts: Is the UN's tsunami relief program as corrupt as Oil For Food? And/or is Bowles there to keep Toon better apprised of what's going on at the UN vis-a-vis the Oil For Food investigations?

I think along those same lines.

"Deputy special envoy" for Clinton. When I first started reading I thought this was satire, but I should have known that Bubba turns satire into reality.
