.....estimated that global temperature may need to rise just 1°C more to tip the balance toward abrupt melting....

So, let me get this straight, IF global temps increase about 2F, the icecaps start melting.....because this will cause the temperature of the polar regions to go from sub zero to above freezing....and since they claim abrupt melting, that would mean well above freezing.....

YEAH, RIGHT!!!! Go peddle your BS to the mindless minions that cannot or will not think for themselves, your fertilizer don't spread here!!!

All it takes is one or two volcanic eruptions to change the amount of greenhouse gases and to quickly affect temperature worldwide:

There is a simple fix for overheating--just reduce the amount of sunlight hitting the earth.

Didn't Montgomery Burns already try that?

I heard this 100 year stuff phrased a different way by an "expert" on c-span. You have to trust us when we tell you there is global warming and what to do about it because it will be 100 years before we will be able to measure the results. Now how's that for a way to avoid accountability? Isn't it a dream for people who live on government grants?

Extraordinary post. Thank you.

Your graphs are excellent. I am not an atmospheric scientist, but from just general science I would have made the following conditions to establish anthropogenic global warming from the historical temperature data:

1. Either the global mean temperature is above the historical upper limits, or

2. The recent relative change in global mean temperature is larger than the historical variations in the global mean temperature, or

3. The time derivative of the global mean temperature was larger than it had ever been before in history.

From you excellent data, it is quite clear none of these conditions apply. The data (from inspection as well) indicate that global warming is not supported by the data.

I would love to hear what the global warming enthusiasts, at least those who are scientits, have to say about these data.

Thanks again.

I read somewhere that it ( the average [mean?] global temperature) has actually gone down for the last couple of years..
That it isn't getting hotter anymore, it's getting cooler again..
( At least in the very short term )

Meehl and his colleagues used two sophisticated computer models of global climate to predict what would happen…

When they can accurately predict what will happen in the weather a month out, then I'll believe their results - for a month ahead.

Predicting weather a hundred years out? And causing economic and social upheaval based on it? Yeah, sure guys.

Amen to that. Considering that the BEST forcasts are only accurate 48-72 hours out, and that EVERY computer model that has been tested for the last 30+ years has been proven WRONG!!! I'll believe these nuts when I have beachfront property in WV.....

The oceans are warming due to increased volcanic activity. This will lead to a new ice age. Why? Warmer oceans produce more evaporation; more evaporation creates more rain, more rain leads to lower temperatures, which leads to more snow.
