might stay if there is "a real danger that a new fuehrer with a fascist-type, nationalist ideology" might win the presidency.

Putin IS a Fascist. Russia is turning sour, they're acting like Russians, again.

The boogie-man fascist-might-takeover is a pitiful strawman-excuse.

Isnt that the current power. Dont forget putin was KGB, and now are joining forces with Red China for war games intended on practicing for the invasion of taiwan. Communist Russia never died, that wall falling was just a give and take game with America...Mark my words Communism will rise to likes no one has seen. China, Russia, all the tin pot dictators around the world, joined together not too mention the democratic party. And weve got England, Australia, and Japan on our side, wow get ready to pick up arms.

What a surprise. Putin has been behaving like a President for Life for some time. And he certainly has the credentials.

Just months ago, there were some pro-Russian posts on the Free Republic, and now that is declining as it became more clear for his aggressive leadership and sales of weapons to Syria.

".....he considers it his duty to select a successor for president....."

Huh?

Sounds to me like he hasn't shaken that Totalitarian, Anti-Democratic mind-set as of yet.
