This has been known for years. He did nothing to end the Depression. He tried, but all his policies and programs were socialistic and unsuccessful.

FDR's Folly is a great book on the subject. Details just why and where his policies failed, and how some continue to do so (Social Security, I'm looking in Your Direction).

He sure did, he negotiated the bombing of Pearl Harbor and got us into war. Without the attack on Pearl the american people wouldn't allow us to enter the war in europe. His plan succeded, sorry to say.
